  1. That's right. Turn it around on Our Attorney's Response To Microsoft · · Score: 3
Microsoft: "Hi, question for Mrs. Bellamy. In Episode 2F09, when Itchy plays Scratchy's skeleton like a xylophone, he strikes the same rib twice in succession, yet he produces two clearly different tones. I mean, what are we supposed to believe, that this is some sort of a, a magic xylophone or something?"

"Boy, I really hope somebody got fired for that one."

Mark Robins: "Let me ask you a question. Why would a man whose shirt says 'Genius at Work' spend all of his time watching a children's cartoon?"

    Microsoft: "I withdraw my question."

Heck, yeah! I've got one of the dual-band StarTacs, and I'm pretty happy with it and with Sprint so far (they could credit my account a little faster once they get my money). However, I like the small size of the phone, and I use the web for three things:
    1. Checking how many minutes I have left in the month
    2. Using MapQuest occasionally (just from zip code to zip code, so it's easy to enter)
    3. Using a CGI script I wrote to put /. headlines in HDML (let me know if anyone's interested in the location)
That's it, and all of those can be used without logging in or extensive data entry. I think I sent an email from my yahoo account just once to say I did it. Summary: There is plenty of stuff you can use, and the sites are all coming on line now (still wish I could define a home page, though).

Seriously, hoth! I don't listen to GiS to get Slashdot articles in audio form only. I listen because I like the fact that they sit around BSing. They remind me of a lot of my friends, and I always find it hella-great. So chill, MB-Mofo!

  4. Re:WAP is retarded anyways. on Geoworks Demands Royalties For All WAP Apps · · Score: 2

WAP is about content, pure and simple. It's for delivery of news, directions, anything where all you need is the information quickly and in a mobile environment. Also, you are certainly able to use other standards within WAP. You list XML and CGI as two examples, but I wrote a CGI script that parses slashdot.xml (an XML file that CmdrTaco provides which contains info on the main pafe stories) for headlines and returns them in HDML (part of WAP). You can use darn near anything to process your info, but if you want remote, easy access to it, WAP is currently the way to go. BTW, if anyone has a wireless web phone and wants to see the script in action, you can get to it at thinkery.org/chewie/phone.hdml (no link 'cause you can't see it on a regular browser)

  5. Malkovich, malkovich malkovich. Malkovich! on End of Some Days, Beginning of Others · · Score: 3
Being John Malkovich was one of the best movies I've seen in a long, long time. I saw the previews a couple of months ago, and instantly thought, "I have to see this movie!" I'm sorry, but the whole 7 1/2th floor, and a tunnel which leads inside Malkovich's head? Unbelievably great and original. Plus, put that together with the amazing acting ability of Malkovich himself, and the whole movie was supremely enjoyable. I even told my parents (who never go out to movies), "Go see this movie. NOW!" Add all of this to the paper Malkovich masks they were handing out at the show (why couldn't it have come out before Halloween?), and you've got a damn good time.

"What is this power that Malkovich holds over us?"

  7. Limited groundfighting on The Matrix to have two sequels · · Score: 1

I'd have to agree with the idea of limited groundfighting being thrown in. I know there's nothing I like better than seeing a good grappler grab a Tae Kwon Do (or similar art) person with a dropping shoulder throw and go into a sweet throat or arm lock. While I agree that two grappling masters would be fairly boring for Joe Average to watch, even striking arts teach a couple of locks. My whole Jiu Jitsu class went to see Matrix, and we all laughed like hell when Neo learned JJ first. Aww, yeah.

The real problem that I can see is that smaller and smaller cellphones will eventually lead to cellphones being implanted into peoples' bodies....This might not be accepted at first, but it might catch on. And if it had a GPS system as well... Big Brother knows exactly where you are at all times. Gulp.

So what if the government knows where you are at all times? They already can monitor any cell phone conversation and triangulate position in less than five minutes anyway. Besides, if the NSA really wanted to follow you around, they would. The fact of the matter is that most people are unbelievably boring. It is simply not practical (insert government inefficiency joke here) for the government to monitor over 270,000 people, plus those outside the country who cause trouble. Don't give them a reason to watch you, and they won't.

  11. Most of it is just parody on Review:Austin Powers, The Spy Who Shagged Me · · Score: 1

I saw an interview with Meyers on E! For my part, I now might actually enjoy those stupid Chili's commercials!

  12. So what's your solution? on Phasers, Tasers and Stun Guns, oh my! · · Score: 1

Giving these people more tools to cause pain is very dangerous.

So what's your solution? No, we should not condone police brutality in any form, but the fact of the matter is that most police are not guilty of these crimes. Should we take a good, nonlethal solution away from the cops doing their duty just because of some bad apples? Do we punish the many for the actions of the few? Well, then, up against the wall, mister! Your neighbor killed someone, so the potential for your killing someone is higher. As such, you're being arrested for the common good!

  14. Soundtrack on Katz vs. Taco: The Matrix · · Score: 1

Damn right, the soundtrack was pretty cool. I've gotta say, though, that the best moment for me was in the club scene when the remixed Zombie faded into the Prodigy. The first time I saw the movie, I didn't even notice the switch, it was done so well. And yes, you did read that right. I saw it more than once. Two nights in a row, actually. The only part I had a real problem with was the "love conquers all" moment at the end. Other than that, though it was definitely well worth my time and money.

But they did come out with an MST3K movie, called (creatively enough) "Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie" or something along those lines. It didn't show in theaters in a lot of markets, but try to find it at your local movie store (like Suncoast or whatever). They watch "This Island Earth" and whereas most of the shows' cracks are sort of off-the-cuff, the movie's rips took time to write, and the quality shows it. And yes, it is damn funny.
