    only 30% of Americans VOTED.

    so the 51% that elected GWB were 51% of 30% of ~200 Million.

    16% (~32M people) of Americans make the choice of who runs the shop.

    That doesn't sound like true representation by population.

    There are so many.

    I would wager that for many /.ers it helps with their ADD or ADHD.

    Not to mention being able to sleep on command is nice too. like when you have an early day tomorrow but your mind won't shutdown tonight. A little cannabis will let you get to bed early if you so desire.

    oh and it makes TV bearable, movies watchable and music incredible.

    Plus it's helps you see in the dark in your Mom's basement while playing everquest.

    It just seems like a rip off for consumers to get a useful radio technology and then get it essentially taken away by someone making a buck off it.

    Not sure of this, but I think by definition "consumers" in this case = payers for service.

    the fcc (un)regulated that slice for denizens of your country.

    Don't seem at all surprised by what Verizon is saying. It's no different than police lobbying for MORE laws. It's 100% self-serving and should be tuned out.

    Work in a prison for awhile or have someone you know or love killed by someone and you won't be calling for inmates to get the things they want.

    I read this as: This is the way it is, it's horrible. Don't fix it, just try it and agree with me.

    Prisons are places where VIOLENT criminals belong.

    White collar and drug criminals are far better served by staying in society.

    Fraud and scam artists should not get prison time. They should get "work for free, until EVERY LAST PENNY you stole" time.

    Drug crimes aren't crimes by any reasonable definition of "harms others" so let the doctors deal with those people.

    why is that police are allowed to lobby?

    Aren't police servants of the public (paid by the public)

    Police and prisons and forced drug treatment clinics are the ONLY beneficiaries of the drug war.

    Next time you see a pro-drugwar rant, check the source carefully. 10 times out of 10 the author is a direct beneficiary (no drug war = no job)

    Drug warriors are parasites.

    Why are drugs illegal?

    Even John Walters (US drug tzar) cannot answer that one with a straight face.

    Discard your opinion (temporarily)

    Now go back to the very start of the drug war.

    Everything after that is really and truly immaterial. The drug war is a war on (some) people.

    Go find out who.

    Drug Prohibition does at least a few more things.

    3. Makes drug suppliers rich as hell. Artificial controls on supply drive prices up while demand stays steady.

    4. Makes millions of "sensible law" abiding citizens into criminals (driving the oh so wonderful prison boom)

    5. Creates a society of snitches (DARE to turn your parent in)

    6. Keeps people from using bulky (but safer) drugs (ie cannabis) and turns them to smaller easily concealed hidden drugs (crack meth pills)

    7. power/money corrupts. Witness the legions of corrupt police (almost always drug squad members)

    Anyone who is FOR the drug war can only be severely deluded, or taking profits from it.

    Which are you?

    take out the first "foreign" to make that statement even more accurate.

    Remember that Microsoft is a multinational. It is not under direct (some say "any") control of the US government.

    Governments should not use Microsoft products. Especially the OSs.

    I don't know about your computers but on mine PXE comes before CDROM,FLOPPY,HD boots.

    I am sure the sysadmins using this would make sure of this too.

    That's really different from the High rises I have worked in (several).

    Most have electronic light controls and you dial a phone number and enter a code to turn on the lights (for a programmed amount of time, usually it was 1 hour) after hours (between 6pm and 7am M-F and weekends)

    Otherwise they were off.

    Same with the heat and A/C controls. weekends in the summer you would have to call and ask for your floor to be cooled. Winter is usually still warm. Computer rooms run on bybass loops that run cool consistently.

    To maintain governmental jurisdictions. We both like it better this way. We have a political left and don't embrace gun-culture fully yet.

    All major Canadian Airports have US customs offices in them. It allows us (and you) to enter in smaller airports when we (you) get to the US.

    Not all US airports are entry points (normally). This fixes that.
