  1. windows on Does launchd Beat cron? · · Score: 1

It all sounds more or less like the servicemanager under windows nt+ (or whatever it is called). That one also(?) keeps asking the 'daemon' (or service as they call it) what it is doing if it has sent it a startup or shutdown message.
I might be wrong though, has been a while since I wrote a service for windows.

I found a tool for reading rss-feeds with a bayesian filter on it so that you only get to see the items you're interested in. After learning 100-200 items it works pretty wel. The program is called 'sux0r' and can be found here.
For those who like to give it a try, check my site.

Sorry, I could not resist to reply to this.
Running ntpdate from a cronjob (that's what you're talking about) is silly. You would then still have 59 minutes in which the clock can skew as much as it likes.
If you want to do it the right way, download the ntp client from ntp.org. That one constantly adjusts your clock depending on the skew it carefully measures over a longer period of time.

If you need something that colorizes and/or does regular expression filtering, merging with other (log-)files, multiple windows, etc. etc. then maybe multitail might come in handy.

Initially I wanted to integrate btail into multitail, but multitail is bloated enough already :-)

OkCupid.com is by far the best dating site I've seen. Most datingsites say they can match someone for you by asking only 5-10 questions. That is bollocks. OkCupid takes a different approach: one can answer as much questions on all kinds of personal things as one wants (there are currently aprox. 1700 questions in the database (I, ehr, answered them all :-])). After that, the system can predict quiet good what person would match with you using the answers you gave, the answer you would the other one to give and how important you think that would be. Works like a charm!
