Yeah, but because of the way you solved the problem you now have the gloves for use on other problems - a "reuse" situation.

Oh yeah, about the computer chips in everyone's car to signal a receiver...its already here. ODBII is capable of it, and ODBIII will implement it. The only thing needed are the roadside receivers by your local police and an antenna attached to your car's computer. ODBIII is also supposed to be able to communicate to certain receivers as to if your car is polluting so you can be auto-cited by that as well.

Laser/lidar is bad. Car & Driver has done a series of articles about court cases and such involving this use of speed detection. It's documented that laser/lidar guns were only capable of getting a speed reading of a particular car if it moved slowly enough, there weren't any other cars around it, it was covered with reflectors, and the gun itself was mounted on a steady surface. When the beam gets to you in traffic its 6 feet across! That means the cop is getting you and probably a car or two near you. Plus if Johnny Law is a little shaky in the hands, there's more error. Another implication is that the cop has to pick you out of a crowd to pick off.
Not in a modern society. That money will go to some government bureaucracy to perform an ongoing study of whether the artists are really being deprived of money by computers circa 1995. If they ever come to a conclusion (and usually they don't) then the artists may eventually get some money not used by that bureaucracy circa 2001. So sometime in the year 2040 some artist in some part of France might get 3 or 4 Francs for some work he did 39 years previous.
I think the original post dealt more with a situation like a Ford dealer taking you across the street to the GM dealer instead of the situation of you wanting one of those gawd-awful Pontiac Azteks and the dealer takes you over to the minivans (whoops, those are the same)...make that the Camaros.
This is off topic, but they really messed up the Impreza with that Taurusy front end and by adding the two extra doors...a 4-door sedan family car as a rally champion? For shame!!!
Tape media degrades more than optical media over time. Tapes stretch, they're more susceptible to magnetic fields and degradation...in other words, they age poorly.
If this technology had come out about 10 years ago it may have had a shot, but with what consumers have now I doubt this is going to have much impact on the marketplace.
I don't know if I speak for a lot of people on here, but I don't watch much TV anymore since the "good" shows have been replaced with incessant drivel driven only by its need to sell us things.
I don't have a problem if I miss TV for a day, a month, or longer. In fact, even when the TV is on I'm not watching it...I usually think of other things.
All I really need is something truely worthy to occupy my time and some background noise (TV). Get out of your easy chair, fix your car, read a book, help somebody who needs it, etc.
All you need is a local bureaucracy leeching
off of you. And the minute one of the people
you're helping screws up you'll get the blame
because you're not an employee.
Again about the leeching, it'll turn into a
cult situation...everybody who finds out that
you know something will be calling you and
wanting you to help them to...
Reminds me of that story about a doctor
who always has people talk to him about
what's wrong with them and why are they sick
when he's trying to enjoy his time away from
the office...he solves it by sending everybody
he talks to a bill for a checkup...
Don't think this couldn't happen to you too! As soon as people find out I know anything about computers they want me to diagnose and fix em on my own time...
Maybe the comparison computer they had in mind was a Apple II or one of those all-in-one Radio Shack things (can't remember the name).
I think he meant it messed things up on the direct mail end. If it's a closed envelope it shouldn't do anything until somebody tries to open it.

Will it taste like Soylent Green?

Was this a real story or a bad French porn movie plot? Don't forget the fire hoses and grass snakes!
Whoops...by post I meant the original thread of "MacCentral had much better coverage.", not the posted topic itself.

IF that becomes the case then they better be paying for the ticket for me to fly their airline.
Yeah, but a dollar per click? You got some pages about turning lead into gold or something?
PS - That Charger concept ran on CNG...

BTW, This chair costs 1000USD standard, 1200USD if
you want leather. Don't know if that's with orBRwithout the access.
Is this Andre on crack or something?

What's next? The DVD-LP?
I thought Hollywood North was where all the
trailer parks and strip clubs were?

I dig Rush...I'd consider myself a member of the
"vast right wing conspiracy" as well.

That was explained in the article. A leap day
would have a designation of "00" and would
have no month.
All Hail Newton!!!!!!
I have a three year old MP120 - most

my Newton's level of usefullness.
And the PC Card slot - pure genius!
But don't leave out a stop in East St. Louis!!!
Some Guy: "East" St. Louise? Homer: Is there any other?
