The dell laptop I got which is 1ghz, was under $1500. Lets see the equally powerfully Apple Laptop, the PowerBook, $3000. Which one to buy hmm, lets see.

And while the imacs are cheap, an imac cannot even be considered to be in the same league as a dell 1.7ghz pentium 4 with 512 megs of ram (this is what you get for the price of a 500-600mghz imac)
Also if you want a good mac you need a G4, G4 based macs at high mghz are over 2k once again more than the under 1k dell which is of higher mghz, more ram, faster harddrive, better video card, better sound card. Macs are beaten not only in price but also in hardware and unless you get a dual G4 you wont have the CPU power to beat a Pentium 4 2ghz, and its been proven.
We know OSX has a better interface than Linux. The question is, how much longer will that last?
At one time Linux was commandline, in fact that was only 3 years ago!
And hey, remember when Windows95 looked better than Linux?
Well, its only a matter of time, thats all i have to say, I dont think Apple has the money to keep ahead of Linux forever. I dont think Microsofts code is clean enough to greatly enhance the interface.
What this means is, just like Mozilla will eventually be superior to all browsers, Linux will eventually have the best interface.
Why? Because Linux is open source, coders will first copy what they know works, once thats done, they will improve beyond the levels of OSX and XP. Remember XP and OSX wont be improving for at least 2 years. So in 2 years I expect Linux to have surpassed them both and I expect Apple to release a new GUI or be completely left in the dust. Microsoft cannot support a new GUI on such a bad codebase, XP is slow as hell and looks like the same GUI with just a skin.
OSX could never beat Windows. BeOS was easier to use and better than Windows in ever way.
Having a good product wont help if Windows is whats packed with every PC. OSX also lacks software, game support etc etc, its as bad as Linux in THAT area. Dont forget Microsoft has shares in OSX.
At the pace the Linux desktop is moving, 2 years from now it will be at OSX's level.
Its already at the level of WindowsXP and some people even say its easier to use. Linux easier than XP

So the point is, its only a matter of time, just like its only a matter of time before Mozilla is better than IE in everyway, if it isnt already.
Why the hell would they be using radio when they have nano technology, and mind to mind communication via some more efficient technology via lasers, or Electro magnetic type technology, really why would they be using radio if they've been around for millions of years before us when we are using radio after not even a million years of being around.

Instead of using your computer to play stupid games, use your computer to do stuff thats important and play a game no more than a half hour to an hour per week.
SVG Icons, SVG widgets, 60fps animation on widgets and icons, genie effect,motion blur, alpha channeling,morphing animation windows widgets and menus, full use of Gforce special effects on the GUI is how you can help the interface. Theres no excuse why we shouldnt take advantage of graphics cards that can render millions of polygons per second and do all of these effects i mentioned with ease. And when you have 1-2-3-4ghz CPUs and 512-1gig of ram it makes absolutely no sense why you should be worrying about your resources.
Its time to update the GUI, and make use of this new hardware. Why have 80s style GUI and software on 2000+ hardware? Really the GUI and software hasnt changed much since the 80s except for games, development tools and $10000 photoshop like tools.
Besides specialized uses like that, the linux gui can really use some help. It cant even do transparency properly, and you can forget about genie effects.
Thats all i can say. Why should redcarpet be free? Theres no reason for it. Distribution should not be free, the information distributed SHOULD be free.

The same thing happened to me when i upgraded from around 0.94, i lost some of my bookmarks but not all of them

Freeze it for 1 month and work on bug fixes, and for a month work on just increasing its speed.
