So, if I go to a library with my laptop and rip a few tracks from a non-DRMed CD, is that considered fair use? I'm not breaking any encryption. Is that any different than copying a few pages out of a library book?
Yahoo! is no longer banning screen names with Allah in them. I just registered "allahforpresident" and "iamtheallah" without any trouble. (After all, I did not want to register anything offensive...)
I doubt they would do this intentionally. It costs just as much to mail a scratched disk back and forth. If anything, one would be inclined to return the scratched disk sooner than a good disk, thus increasing their costs. Where's the motivation to do that?
- could play in all CD players, including PCs and car stereos? - had an extra track with non-DRM MP3s, OGG, and WMA files? - included cover art in JPG and PNG format? - included the full lyrics in TXT format? - was free from DRM and other executables? - (oh, and actually had songs you liked)
1) Scanning for copyrighted material? 2) Scanning for pornography? 3) Scanning for insider trading information? 4) Scanning for links to Google competitors? 5) Reading your email to display relevant advertisements? (oh crap...)
Actually, there is a valid point in there somewhere. The TLD (in my opinion) should be indicative of the organization running the website, not the type of browser/client that is expected to access it.
Thanks for the direct link. One thing to keep in mind, however, is that the installation includes the "optional" Google Toolbar. It seems this optional component is mandatory.
Granted, worse things could be installed, but not everyone may want this. Somewhat hidden the installation of Googole Toolbar is.

And, it sounds a lot like the Andrew Griffiths from this page.

I am very sure that also having your email address posted on the front page of Slashdot won't help matters either. This guy doesn't seem too smart.
I'd suggest returning the defective disc. Audio CDs are not supposed to behave that way.

One of those countries is being hypocritical in their remarks. The other is in Asia.

If Netflix were honest and straighforward with their intentions, they would advertise "up to five DVDs per month for $20.00."
But that wouldn't sound like as good a deal, would it?
>>...whereas the DVD pirates are turning around 10-15 discs a week (or more)...
I prefer the term "time-shifted rentals."
Hey, it doesn't matter and mac os X is uber secure.
What if you could purchase an Audio CD that:
- could play in all CD players, including PCs and car stereos?
- had an extra track with non-DRM MP3s, OGG, and WMA files?
- included cover art in JPG and PNG format?
- included the full lyrics in TXT format?
- was free from DRM and other executables?
- (oh, and actually had songs you liked)
Would you buy this? I would.
He may have borrowed this answer from Graham Toal in 1999 who wrote a little ten square program that found this solution and two others.

Yes. And guess who Google is buying their network from...that's right...Level 3 Communications.

how much profit has gmail brought in for them?
Looking at the number of ads in gmail, I'd speculate it's earned a lot of revenue.
Gosh, I sure hope this doesn't hurt Apple's case...
