  5. I support Net Neutrality but the FCC was the wrong place to enact those rules.

Yes, I wondered why this was placed in the hands of the FCC to begin with.

Because the democrats couldn't do it any other way.... Congress wasn't controlled by them and Obama couldn't/wouldn't work with the Republicans on this (or pretty much anything else for that matter).

This is what "I have a phone and a pen" governance by a president looks like....

A few? A bunch! You will need 12 Republicans to agree to this, PLUS Trump (OR 18 if you don't get Trump).

This will have to be a law... Meaning it will have to be a bill, passed by both the house and Senate and signed by the president. In the Senate, this will require a number of cloture votes which require 60 Senators and a veto override will take 66. No way you get that many Republican Senators to vote this way.

    A) The correction systems at the state and federal level would love to jam them. Unfortunately, that is against FCC regulations and thus against federal law. B) The femtocell plan may or may not be feasible and/or legal and could be challenged on a variety of grounds by the guards, contractors, etc. C) Triangulation only works well for stationary objects or moving objects that are easily identifiable at distance. Trying to match a call to a specific inmate through triangulation would be effectively impossible.

Why wouldn't you just monitor calls originating from in or around the prison? Surely the triangulation should be accurate enough to winnow out the "outliers" beyond the fence. Then you just get an agreement from *everybody* who carries a cell onto the premises to allow monitoring and a standing warrant for any calls involving a phone within the gates.

By the way... For your point A, this is not exactly true. The FCC has exceptions to this no jammer rule for law enforcement and security use. I'm sure the FCC would allow a jammer to be used in and around a prison, especially if care was taken to limit the geographic area it was effective.

I'm pretty sure triangulation speed isn't an issue. What would be the issue is resolution of a location due to the uncertainty of the bearing measurements from multiple stations. Doing the geometric calculations are not all that difficult or time consuming for an automated process

Matching a cell call to an inmate would take some investigative work for sure, but just KNOWING there is a phone to be found and a general location where it was when used is a huge thing to know. It's like telling me there IS a needle in that one haystack, and not just in a field of hay. Yea, it doesn't get you the needle, but it sure narrows the field.

How do they have a lawsuit? Can I now sue the Federal Government if they refuse to use *my* software product?

You cannot sue city hall, Kaspersky Lab's needs to file that suit in the circular file marked "trash" because it's going to be dumped by the courts eventually and turn into a waste of good money.

Most folks in Chia don't have the resources to buy a car to start with and most that do live in the city and don't need one. Self Driving cars are of almost zero importance to them. They won't buy them, so who cares about this?

Now if you think there is some military reason to have China's road networks clearly mapped and Trump should care for this reason... I'm willing to bet that the military already knows what it needs to know about this...

So that leaves only one possible reason you would bash Trump on this.. You think the USA should be involved in trying to check the Chinese and your perceived abuses of civil rights. I dare say that Trump's perspective on this is pretty clear from his campaign rhetoric, where he doesn't think the USA is the world's police force unless it involves a compelling national interest. I don't see a compelling national interest here..

So why are you bashing Trump on this issue?
