Wife and I used to spend voraciously in bookstores, now on the rare occasion we visit one, we're more likely to Window shop, preview the books we like, then check Amazon and discover we can get the same book for 20-60% less, and go home and order it there. People aren't made out of money, so we save where we can. We have e-book readers, but still prefer actual books when possible. E-Books are grweat for trsavel at least as other posters have noted, but nothing beats an actual, physical book.
and while your at it, let's stop having winners and losers, every game is a draw and these overgrown children can all feel good about themselves no matter how good/bad they do...it's all about their self esteem!
LOL, but the armed gaurds won't be allowed past the metal detectors... No, eliminate the waste of money and life rather than escalating the costs for everyone...
"We deregulated high-speed internet access 10 years ago and since then we've seen enormous consolidation and monopolies, so left to their own devices, companies that supply internet access will charge high prices, because they face neither competition nor oversight."
Grumpy Cat hates everything....... You friends need you help tend their farm in Farmville... and You may already be a winner (but if you spend the whole day logged into Facebook, we severely doubt it.)
Considering it still hasn't had all of it's "house names" make an appearance on the Wii U yet, the death knells are premature.
But making their exclusives non-exclusive would be the end of them.
See, in your own comment you pointed to a big problem talking about how you "warez" Nintendo releases. If you aren't going to buy them, why should they care about you and your kind? Nintendo sells consoles and games, no reason to shoot themselves and let other platforms have their golden geese.
Exactly. Nintendo is for kid-friendly and casual fun games. They have their niche, no reason to bash themselves to pieces on the rocks of XBox, PlayStation, and PCs.
Porting their core products to other systems would hasten Nintendo's death if you didn't have to buy Nintendeo hardware to play them.....
Or to put it another way, the penalty is way stiffer for torrenting a movie than it is for going into a store a stealing a DVD... And in the case of the shoplifter, that DVD is no longer available for the store to sell... a copy is just a copy
6 passengers at an average 150 lbs = 900 lbs. More passengers means more safety gear (floatation devices, oxygen masks, bathroom capacity, etc) related costs too
"This gives airlines two of their favorite things: more paying passengers, and a smaller fuel bill (the seats are slightly lighter)."
Exactly, the seats are negligible in weight compared to the passengers themselves. I bet the extra 5-6 passengers easily outweigh the "lighter seats" by 10-30 times. Especially when you add any luggage and/or carryons....
All this will do is piss off more people and turn them off to flying unless absolutely necessary.
That's like telling someone "I'm going to kill you and rob you, would you rather I do it from in front or behind?" Make the ads and the means to deliver them too expensive to maintain...
"OTOH I'm not sure how you learn about anything new without ads." Must be great to have no friends or family you can trust with information about something they like or find useful. I pity you and the other drones who are slaves to the corporate machine.
This. I am so so SICK of being advertised at... I pretty much take unsolicited ads as a "Do Not buy from" list, unless people I actually know and/or trust tell me about a useful product and I decide to actively look into it...
This "technology" isn't needed in schools, and school's are increasingly cash-strapped to make these options attractive to them. Amazing how conveniently that worked out, isn't it?
...how education has fallen so far when we started adding all this technology and started treating education like Corporate Indoctrination and rating students' "active participation" and "shows enthusiasm" levels as if students were serfs...er, employees, to be controlled and used, rather than educated.

Ribbons? RIBBONS?
But the committee bought a boxful of Trophies!!!! Now we need ribbons too? ;)

Not to mention all the people they'd need to employ in this high unemployment market place to do it manually...
Yep, getting real tired of these, I hope they get vandalized to Hell and back.
Then I hope the execs that actually approve this stuff and have in installed are next....

total elimination of the TSA

And the giant DUH! Award goes to the obvious.

Agreed
There are WAY too many sheep out there that think this is a good idea.
No wonder America has gotten so weak. Forget hard work and thought, let the dancing candy bar on the screen tell you what to do and think....
What a good little consumer you are...
Especially if you have a lot of frozen and/or refrigerated items...
And putting the wrong items back on the shelf...
This.

"We already have fairly strong laws"
HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA
Like laws have ever stopped corporations or other criminals
Corporations (which control the government effectively anyway) are worse than any government at this point.
