Maybe Disney realizes that Pixar's formula is working, and they ponied up the dough to keep Pixar happy and to make sure they are a part of Pixar's success. Disney is good at promotion and distribution, and Pixar is excellent at delivering great movies. Why would Disney want to lose that business?
How did this comment get modded "Insightful"? Seriously, Microsoft has to have done something right to have come this far and have as much force as they do in the market, even if it's not video games and hardware that they excel at. Among questionable business practices and glaringly lacking browser functionality, there are some redeeming qualities.
I wish I could own a company that, even though tons of idiots deride my success, can continue to succeed and innovate as much (or as little) as Microsoft.
There are many good reasons why a "digital rights" contract would not be in the best interests of the artist, and not the least of which is that analogue (or non-MP3/internet bought music) is not a dying medium. I highly doubt Paul McCartney's (to use your example) prime target for sales would be that hyped about buying digital copies of his music, especially since they're much less likely to know to back it up. Besides, most record-buying public are likely to want the liner notes, covers, and cases to hold their music in, and are less likely to want to purchase single songs.
Remember, the percentage of the population that buys the music that would be more popular is much less savvy than you think.
Most likely they won't be original commercials. The point of having commercials with the shows is to keep the service free, and older commercials most likely won't generate revenue for advertisers, especially in the case of companies/products that don't exist anymore.
It was probably better to download them than pay $9 a pop to see these "blockbusters". He should be given some sort of recognition for his service to humanity.
Jeezus Christ, people, you all give Jon Katz a hard time about his views, but could any of you write a better review? Maybe some of you could, but this guy does have a regular review, and he does not rip off Roger Ebert. I'm sure he is just trying to give his opinion on a movie, and you're allowed to have your own, but damn, quit your bitching about him!
Uhh.. to all those who say that Quake 2 Single doesn't work, I just beat the game in Hard mode in about 3 weeks. I LOVE Quake 2. Especially on a Riva TNT2 w/ 32MB of memory.
Jeezus Christ people, he wrote a movie review and hit a few wrong keys on his keyboard. Give him a break. Opinion = should not influence you. Shut up. The complete grammar and english check was totally uncalled for. Until everyone writes perfect comments and you submit an article without errors or any shape or form, shut up.
I am fixing a Compaq Presario 1247 for a friend, and the keyboard is OK, but the speakers on the bottom of the panel are great, they round down, and my wrists love that.
I use a Microsoft Natural Keyboard at home. I can't type as fast on anything else, at least, it takes a day to get used to the flat kb, and even then I hitr som rongf keyas.
I am in Ohio, with Ameritech's $39.99 per month residential ASDL service. They have been up and down. First we sign up with them for a $29.99 intro fee plus a free ComCrap computer (which we planned to overhaul and use as a server) to boot. We signed up, and waited 2 months. Finally got their asses in gear, sent a tech, and it didn't work. Sent another tech. He says "I can't fix it today." I said "Why not?" He says "Because you don't have this, that and the other thing." I say, "Yes we do!" He says, "OK!" Bing. DSL is up.
Almost a year later, it's fast, but spotty, it dies a lot, and my mom won't give me the password to the server to fix it when it dies... we have yet to call Ameritech.
Good deal, but be prepared for bullshit.
Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I would not feel comfortable with electing a president with the first name, "Ralph".
Just my one cent. I don't have enough cents to make two.

Well, thanks a lot Mister Blow-the-whole-funny-thread-on-a-technicality.:)
For what it's worth, I can't vote, (or waste a vote, I woulda voted for Nader anyway. The way I see it, he'll be too busy looking drunk on TV to waste the budget surplus.)

... they can't just dredge up a cache of Johnny Cochran.
Maybe they should have run that article off of the new iMac before Slashdot got ahold of it.
