Right. But it's far quicker and easier to address the camera issue with a small piece of tape that will solve the problem (or lack thereof, granted) permanently in less than a minute than it is to satisfactorily address the other issues you mention.
Call me paranoid, but I just put a small piece of black electrical tape over the camera. Can't really even see it against my black laptop, and I KNOW the camera isn't recording me.
First, I wouldn't be surprised at all if review scores are bought and paid for.
That aside, I could see them honestly giving the game a 9.5/10 after playing their review copy on more or less empty EA servers before the game's release, then trying it after release and realizing that it's now an unplayable mess. It was 9.5 (in their opinion), but now it's 4/10.
Yeah, I know, that's giving them a huge benefit of the doubt...
If I could pay $30 or even $50 per month to get access to every movie and TV show ever made on demand within minutes I would happily pay that. Even though my family would probably only spend 5-10 hours per month using it. But that's not available. And don't tell me Netflix or Hulu. Those services are great, and I am a Netflix subscriber, but it's not complete.
The industry needs to change it's business model...
You're probably kidding, but the guy's gonna have a hard time doing that with his mom who already knows his tech background without starting a small family war.
The "Platinum Members" listed at the bottom of their site include: Accenture, AstraZeneca, Capital One, Deloitte, Ernst & Young, Edelman, HP, Intel, KPMG, LexisNexis, Microsoft, Ponemon, Promontory, and PWC.
Now in the great/. tradition, I did not read TFA nor watch TFV, but I doubt the listed companies truly have our privacy best interests at heart.
In reality, these "cuts" (which aren't actually even real cuts as noted above) will have almost no effect on the population as a whole. But everything possible will be done to spin this like it is an epic disaster so that the cuts are reversed, spending is even increased, and taxes are raised yet again.
Children will go hungry! Old people will die! Canada will probably invade! Dogs and Cats living together! MASS HYSTERIA!
Just start over with a whole new crowd with no one having seniority, no power clicks...etc. It is too bad that there was no periodic "clean the house" type provision in the Constitution where every few decades...whoosh, everyone there is out and must be replaced.
I fully agree - and I agree with most posts above you in the thread. It would be awesome if we could throw EVERYONE out, say, once every 12 years or so and start fresh. But the people who would vote for that are the people who would be thrown out, so of course it's never gonna happen. Shameful...
Oh god, this. 1,000x this. I wish I had mod points for you.
My biggest problem with the checkpoint thing is I can never really tell exactly when the game saved last. Sure they usually have some sort of spinny disk thing or "checkpoint" graphics, but sometimes I miss those depending on how they are designed. And when I'm going to turn off the game I can never remember how long it has been since I last saw one, so I don't know how much of the game I'm gonna have to replay if I shut it off right now.
"Are you sure you want to quit? Any unsaved progress will be lost!" Yeah, no shit. And how much unsaved progress is there...?
I've never had much of a problem with ATI/AMD cards. It's funny, I'm not an AMD person or an NVidia person. I've actually alternated manufacturers and more or less had good luck with each. But maybe I've been lucky because I've seen this said many places. I have a Radeon 7870 right now and it runs everything I want just fine. But if I'm true to form, that means my next card will probably be an NVidia. I don't plan it that way, it's just worked out that when I go to upgrade it seems that the best price/performance option has switched back and forth for me. I guess we'll see...

Jeeze people, lighten up...

No really, how do you really feel?
Smoke signals?

Oops - didn't read gitano_dbs' post before mine saying more or less the exact same thing before posting. Sorry about that!
So is EA going to be demanding a refund?
No, the reviewers will simply offer to review another EA game for free...
That word, it does not mean what you think it means.
What, Slashdot? Who knows what Slashdot really means...
In point of fact, the plural of MILF would actually be MILF.
Mothers....
I wish I had a Pentium 90, if only for nostalgic reasons. At the time, I was a mac guy and I had one of those pizza box PowerPC 601/66s.
Do explain to me what a used bit looks like, if you will...
They get worn a bit at the edges. So instead of 0s and 1s, they turn into 0.0000000001s and 0.9999999999s.

That's easy...
Walk away. Just walk away.

Well, the press release on TPB's blog is datelined Pyongyang, so there's that...
Sounds like an air-Roomba. Wish my Roomba didn't die. That thing was fun as hell to watch.
Oh, but it is an epic disaster! Just ask Obama!

Excuse me - she was quoting the article on Zug, apparently...
He was quoting the article on Zug.
(But I agree with you on general principle)
