Just seems everytime I hear an ad on the radio for one of the planetariums, they're pushing a laser-light show set to some rock music rather than for example a planetarium show involving stars, planets and other things in the sky and most planetariums just happen to be in areas that haven't seen a dark night-time sky since the last whole-grid black-out. I know community out-reach is important, but there are millions of people who have never seen a dark sky and more than 20 stars at a time.
That's just sick, would you honestly do the sister of someone who posts a windows question on slashdot? Most slashdotters at least have enough class to save a their virginity for the sister of someone who would post a linux question on slashdot; how far apart do you think two apples are going to fall from the tree?
he real problem is between you and your sister probably not, it sort of sounds a lot of people, give them the special deal they whine for or insane turn-arround time and not only is their no appreciation, but they feel that they've gotten something inferior. The only way to deal with them is at the first hint of them dickering for a lower price you have to lock in your heels and tell them your so busy that it'll take 25% longer. If they want quicker than normal service you have to sock on an outragious rush fee. They get abusive with you once, stick'em on the asshole surcharge list, life is too short to do favors for abusive people.
Construction or renovation of dozens of museums, planetariums and science labs for colleges. Oh I see NASA is uniquely qualified to provide laser light shows to rock music and the presence of museums and planetariums are instrumental to the exploration of aeronaughtics and space.
Computers, classrooms and lab space for colleges and schools across the U.S. If you've checked the prices on tutition and contact hours recently you'd know that if a school wants something useful, they'd just cut a check and buy it, if a school wants something that's "well yeaah maybe it'll come in handy, I'm sure we'll figure out something to do with it" than why not get the money direct from congress and cut out the middle-man, doesn't the middle-man have better things to do than run community outreach when their primary mission is basicaly on hold?
A website and laboratory for the Gulf of Maine Aquarium. Fish in space, KEWL I wanta aquarium on ISS! That'll make one hell of a screen saver!
Ok I'm not a cosmologist of even that good at math; but I can get my head arround the idea that a black hole has four properties, mass, charge, temerature and spin; Schwarzschild black hole, wouldn't have a magnetic field because it a single contigious event horizon and no photons can escape, but a Kerr black hole or a Kerr-Newman black hole have spin or angular momentum and have multiple or even non-contigious event horizons allowing leakage of magnetic field, energy and even matter.
My industry is getting pushed into FDA 501K requirements, primarily to stiffle foreign competition; I'm making dentures, easily removeable, life is about 5 years, If it it was cardiac pacemakers I could see the need, right now document retention is 30 years for a device with a 5 year clinical life expectantcy
There is no way that anyone would seriously consider living in zero-G for more than a temporary thing; on the space-station the astronauts run on treadmills strapped down with bungie cords to simulate gravity and they are only up there for 6 months. An astronaut can lose 25% of his bone mass in 6 months, anything longer than that they'd need centrifuges to generate G force.
Bone (Calcanous) has two differnt types of cells, osteoclasts which "eat bone" and osteoblasts which lay down new bone. The osteoclasts tend to meander, eating the one randomly, but the osteoblasts tend to follow electrical currents in the bone. The calcium salts in the bone give off electrical currents by the piezoelectric effect which causes the bone to grow in the direction that makes it the strongest for the stresses it normaly recieves.
If what you are really after is an iron-clad, explosion proof, enterprise scaled, industrial strength web application where any down time result in horrendous lose of revenue; your not going to grab PHP/MySQL of the shelf and run with it any more than you are going to grab anything off the shelf and run with it. The bottom line will always be a well designed and coded application connecting to a mid-level database on commodity hardware will out preform the best database running on the best hardware when the connecting application is poorly designed and coded. When the stakes are high every commponent needs to be critically analysed and tested; nothing gets a free pass based on he-said she-said or I think.
It was about 2 months ago, I downloaded BLAST and some Genomes and started playing around on my home computer. At first I was amazed at how fast my lowly little PC, a 700MHz dinosaur, could rip through the genomes of fruit-flies and it started to dawn on me that if an intellegent putz like me was getting close to being able to do real genetic research on a dinosaur machine like I had; It was very probable that there was something we didn't understand. It looks like I was right!
I doubt 1 in twenty people even know that it's technicaly possible to run their own SMTP server, maybe one in 40 would know a valid reason for doing so, so I really doubt many would be inconvenienced, by forcing them to work the way they believe it's all ready working.
Just look in the emails and they have telephone numbers, web sites, the various means of seeing what these scumbags have to offer and how to contact them. No they don't, not anymore,
Sophos estimates that 15 percent of all spam emails are now pump-and-dump scams, compared to just 0.8 percent in January 2005. These scams are email campaigns designed to boost the value of a company's stock in order for spammers to make a quick profit. Many of these spam messages contain images rather than traditional text.
and that's been my personal experience in the inbox as well; I haven't gotten a farmapseudical spam in months! Now there is no money to follow, half of my spam is giffed pump-and-dump stock scamms and the other half is gibberish.
Generic Mapping Tool, will do everything you want, and a lot you have not even thought of yet. GMT produces postscript and encapsuleated postscript, so if you have a postscript viewer your good to go, runs on unix/linux, is GPL'd so there source code to analyse. There are lots of examples with generating scripts such as time-series collected along a track or a 3D perspective, artificialy illuminated, greyscale image; just reading and understanding the accompanying ducumentation should be good for college credit in cartography.
I got the impression that BAE Systems was the contractor and Christine Axsmith worked for them not the CIA proper; and probably accessing document she had little or no "Need to Know" and was advertising the fact on the government's secret network.
It's not even close to the worst thing, we even do it to ourselves for training. A while back I got burned and having my skin peeled like a banana was pretty intense, I'd still rather go through that than being hung, drawn and quartered, that's where your
1. Dragged on a hurdle (a wooden frame) to the place of execution. 2. Hanged[1] by the neck, but removed before death (hanged). 3. Disembowelled, and the genitalia and entrails burned before the victim's eyes. 4. Beheaded and the body divided into four parts (quartered).Wikipedia
Now that's intense but seriously even being racked or strappadoed would be a lot worse that being waterboarded.
As an aside most of the torture techniques that Dracula learned, he learned at the hands of the Islamic Ottomans that held him hostage durring his youth.
Oh yes and the UI of photoshop is so much better than Gimp too bad it only runs on Evil(tm) MS operating systems as I would use it to plot today's atmospheric CO2 levels, they must be temporarily down today because it's only 85 instead of 90. I think we all know about group-think arround here, I guess an agency that uses augmented interigation techniques, should have a rather harsh mderation system.
I've decide that any support I give will not be party based but issue based and I will be very vocal about letting the particular candidate know which issues stimulated my support and I'll probably CC the letter to the opponent as well. I bet I'll be getting a ton of junk mail from numerous parties assuming that because I supported a particular candidate, that I'll support their party in general.
The last election was the biggest farce since Nixon vs. Humphery, remember how that one turned out, see how this one is going, notice the possiblity of a trend; opposition party folds like a house of cards, the dominant party abuses its people. Politicians need a credible opposition to fight or they will make one up or turn on their own.
Donations by hughly rich people are usually money that would be collected as tax; and spent on bridges to nowhere in the state that senator "leaky internet pipes" Stevens comes from and is so rich they pay people to live there, no doubt; kind of makes weazeling out of pay taxes look like a Good(tm) thing don't it.
Tell that to the chaste wife who is going to die because her husband was poking his schlong into every whore in the gutter; or even somebody like me who gets a twinge of dread everytime my glove get wrapped up in dental bur at work.
Actually the data is amazingly transperent right now, fifteen minutes on google links after searching for "cd4 gp120" you'll find enough data about HIV infections of CD4 T killer cells to make anybodies head spin. As most research is government funded the data is pretty much available, try looking at the HIV sequence database over at Los Almos National Laboratories, all kinds of geek toys, FAQs and tutorials there. you can even run polypeptide and nuecleotide sequences against the HIV genome. The hard part about a HIV vacine is that the part of the virus the body sees is covered in sugars so the immune system doesn't respond to it!

I'm guessing your sister is a preteen or teenager, but this isn't a bad idea even if she's an adult. Yeah an adult like my former boss.
No ActiveX with insanely promiscuous default permissions, that's how.

My gut hunch is that's a good approximation of the big-bang, two half universe sized black-holes kissing!

Plants also have mitochondria, especial plants with chloroplasts. Mitochondria are what make areobic metabolism possible.
