Aluminum is very common, but it's always found as a salt or oxide, originaly to smelt alluminum they mixed AlO with sodium metal and heated it until the sodium reduced the AlO to pure AL + NaO; this was a very dangerous and expensive reaction, which is why aluminum was very expensive, worth its weight in gold and rare. The modern method uses electric arc furnaces and electrity to cheap to measure, they just melt the baxite ore and the electricity electrolyses the ore into metal.
your car, unlike your horse, can not find its way home from the village pub after you have drunk yourself into a stupor. yes but your car doesn't decide to drive through 3 red lights while your passed-out at the reins either; the vast majority of browsers are reasonable consistant, then the the horse, IE, which decided to wonder off on its own; which means the vast majority of sites should look fine if designed for standards and then later for IE, maybe we could talk W3C into giving IE it's own media tag so we'd only have to write one stylesheet!
It's been a while but it seemeed to me that not only did linux read/write windows filesystems both on the same system and over the network faster than windows did, but that the reverse was also true!
Websense has stated they do not plan to make the code public at this time and only plan to share it with a select group of researchers
ok so if I
set up a honeypot account at yahoo and get a bunch of spam in it,
scan it for viruses, if viral save a copy on a linux box,
look at it with a hex editor and pick out some ascii strings,
google the web for the strings inside the virus,
then appearently I'm using some uber-secret technic that only the elite security professionals should know.
OK so here is now the $25,000.00 question, Given that google crawls the web, and it crawls the web by following publicly visable links, wouldn't how the google spiders got to the viral binary through the links, be much more interesting than the fact that the virus was there?
If you have a website, how hard would it be to write a perl script that crawls the site via the FTP, fingerprints the files, remembers which files have changed and feeds any files that did through clamAV; seems pretty simple to me.
just use rubber bands, wrap about five thick ones arround the hand and thumb, then she will not be able to move her thumb! Mouse has three buttons, hand has four fingers, only key on the keyboard you use the thumb for is the space key and for that you can roll the wrist to hit it without moving the thumb at all. I'm actually using that method to type this to make sure it'll work and it works fine. If this solves her problem get a custom made glove with the thumb conected to the hand, 30% spandex should lock the thumb down pretty well.
You know if you watch television for a while, you can collect quite a few Visa, Mastercard and Amexco credit card numbers and names that are not associated with a real person there are also numbers that always check good, some that always are bad some that are always over limit for testing. I'm sure if we all dug into it, there are also bank routing numbers and account numbers that are defined for testing only; it's not that hard to get the address to the local FBI Office so the possibilies for hilarious hijynx abound! There are people who are disappointed if they don't get at least one 419'er a month to screw with!
Look people do stupid shit, allway have, allways will; any "security measure", any "consumer education" that fails 0.001% of the time is failing enough to entice phishers with "get-rich-quick" dreams. There are ways to stop them, and that is to give them what they want, they want data sent to phishing pages we can do that
First we can send masses of pseudo-random data to their site, we can bury them in data that they can try to process at 30 cents a transaction, or
A name and address and a CC number that triggers a tracker that locks an account, that slows the bank branch's credit card deposits to a crawl due to fraud investigation, that slows the banks transactions again due to fraud and possible terrorist links. After that you have to look at the ISP that's hosting the site, maybe they involved so you start working your way up from there to.
Eventually the phishers aren't going to be able to find hosting; end of problem.
I'm not sure that climatology even counts as science, it just plain too new and it really doesn't have professional base of knowlege and there is no experimental base to it which means all of it's "facts are self-referencial" In climatalogy we know "a" is true becauase it proven by "b" which is known to be true beacuse it's proven by "c" which is proven by "a". Dr. Freud is definately not a layman either, but his theories are taught only as a historical curiousity to psycologists today, Dr. Sagan isn't a layman either but my setiAtHome client hasn't picked up ET yet and we're not in a nuclear winter either.
The bottom line is you have to be really smart to do something really stupid, often the hardest thing the town's mayor has to to is recognise when the village idiot is right and the village genius is wrong. We are only going to get one shot at this so we had better be right the first time.
This is so old, Rodney McKay has been using ZPM's for several seasons now. Seriously I also thought this was a big part of how Hawking evaporated blackholes too.
Sure it does, that equipment will just get more expensive with inflation, the labor to install it will not be going down either. Sooner or later the PUC is going to put the gun to their heads, that's when it'll get turned on; gotta maintain the artificial scarcity you know.
yeah his mouth was flapping about ambiguios google traffic, but what he was talking about was really TvIP. He knew he was on the hook to put fiber to the door at 45Mbs and a big chunk of that was being earmarked for video delivery, that nobody had ever done TvIP except on small experimental networks and the system was fragile as hell. What he needed was a big fight over something else for a distraction, and net neutrality was a big winner; when their over-promised aready paid-for years late fiber network crashed and burned, they'd still have google and p2p to blame!
You forgot to memtion we have already given them Billions in rate increases, tax breaks and regulatory incentives to give us Fiber to each and every door, and what we got is a country where the majority of the people are freaking lucky to be able to get a crippled DSL! We are stuck in a pathetic service level where "best effort" really means what ever we feel like giving you of what is left after what you want has all ready been picked over by everybody and his brother.
Maybe one of these Tellco Vampires will have a heart attack and I'll give him my "best effort" at CPR after I consult with "Billy-bob Greenteeth" about proper CPR technic, Road-kill taxidermy and pick my ass for a while.
Wars, especialy modern wars decrease mortality rate and increase birthrate; I know it's counter-intutive but it's true. I wouldn't be one bit surprised to learn that american soldiers in Iraq are less likely to be killed than their peers back home. Take a bunch of 18-24 year old males and teach them to avoid doing stupid shit and the deathrate has to go down.
1% of the population own 99% of the wealth. It's about time some serious redistribution happened, The wealthy your refering to don't make enough income to tax to run things for very long, so you must be talking about inheretence and Most of us would call that theft not redistribution. Even if I was simpathetic to your cause, one man's redistribution is another man's stealing the food out of my children's mouth; would you really trust politician's to administer it?
No the real problem is this is a stupid disgusting show that the Ausie's thought that "their" people were above and reality just bitch slapped them in the face, like a floppy penis. The truth is the less they do, the less of a fuss everyone makes, the quicker these train-wreck "reality" shows will go away. If the politicians start fussing and passing laws, all of the six-pack joe types are going to fixate on the crap shows just to piss-off the reactionary religious extremists; just like what happens in the Good'ol USA.
What happens when the consulting company hired to competency test all of your county's MS Office users, tests them on Macs and Framemaker software? The union started screaming bloody-murder, the the firm held their ground and showed statistically that it was not only valid to test the workers on Macs with Framemaker, but the results more accurately reflected real-world performance than testing them on PC's with MS Office would.
Let's see, 52 weeks in a year, 4 weeks in a month, 52/4 = 13 months! where'd you take math? The other way, 12 calender months, plus 2 weeks vacation + 5 days sick + 5 paid holidays + a couple personal days = 13 months.
The first spreadsheet I used was on a ROM that plugged into the side of my Radio Shack Color Computer and it did 90% of the things that are actually used on most real world spreadsheets. Any College trained graduate that can't jump from one vendor's software to another in the same class with little difficult, should ask his college for his tutuion back. College training implies understanding in underlying principals; not just memorizing click sequences.
How expensive is to going to be to run windows when it becomes abandonware? We all know - Warren Buffet didn't give Bill and Melinda $37B to play with on a part time basis; C levels are leave M$ like rats from a sinking ship; The little software shops don't have anything new or cool for M$ to buy, beg, borrow, or steal anymore; Any young-bloods worth hiring are trying to figure out if they should were dress or causual sandels to their next interview; Vista/Longhorn doesnt have any real new features and is what 7 years late?
My guess is tha M$ Windows will beat BSD into Rigor Mortis!
"Your Honor, our firm has filed for chapter 11 procedings due to expenses incured litigating this matter, and we have not been paid for two months, I regret to infor you that we are adbanding the represention of SCO so that we may persue gainfull employment at an other law firm."
A nutbag that had just lived through an "Atlas Shrugged" day where every thing that ran Linux, BSD or any OSS or any software derived form it was shut down for a day. Imagine a world without email, websites or DNS, no internet or intranet; cell phone probably wouldn't work, some of them wouldn't even turn on; hell his cable tv would be iffy, and a lot of TV/Movie/Photography production and editing ends up being touched by a Mac somewhere along the line; and his TiVo would be definately a no-go. No Tv, No DVD's, No Porn! That's pretty much all it would take to turn six-pack joe into a nutbag case.
price of a good defense lawyer, $300-400 per hour, price to whack the complaintants legal team, $30-$50K per head, cost of making criminal activity cheaper than a legal defense, unestimatable!

Yeaah but you have to admire the gratuitus use of high explosives in the show; if your going to blow it, use TNT or C4!

how about an insurace company that converts SSN into ID numbers by shifting the hyphen?
