    so what you're saying is that a no competent company should try and `talk up' their products in an attempt to make money? I could just imagine your take on a competent company.

    Targeted to children? I've heard that Rare is already working on a Conker game for the Gamecube. I think Nintendo has learnt their lesson in targeting only children. If i buy any of the next generation consoles, i'm probably going to buy the Gamecube.

    I managed to scrape through elementary school without a word processor. If my memory serves me correcly, i didn't have too many essays to write back then.

    The whole gimmick of the story was to be about the most influential gaming companies. I'm guessing that being influential and being an established developer sort of goes hand in hand. I can't think off the top of my head of one that doesn't go with the other.

    Sure, they could write about newer games, but you're trying to argue against a topic that they're not even talking about. Was marathon a good game back in the day? Sure. I guess. Was it as influential to other developers as Doom? not a chance. Does Halo look good? I think so. Will it be influential for future game designers? Can't really tell... gotta wait a couple years and see...

    are there even any Taco Bells in the UK? I've heard there are very few in Canada, so I doubt there are too many other countries out there other than the US that have one on every street corner...

    unless you want your taco delivered by mail?

    I don't know about everyone else, but I'd love to have a job where i could just sit around and make a few dozen crappy looking "fan pages" on sites like geocities for a larger movie company. No need for web design skills! A couple of broken links here... a few dozen webrings over there... and lots of annoying animated gifs and flashing text!

    Hey, I thought Doom ran just fine in Low-res on my 286-12Mhz back when i first got it. I think it was the 2 MB of ram that was really hurting performance for me though. hehe... and of course, the fact that i only had a 40 MB HD, so i had to erased windows 3.1 to install it...

    ahhh... those were the days... And i know as soon as i start playing Doom on the GBA it'll bring back all of those memories. heheh...

    Sega has hinted at Sonic appearing on the Gamecube, so Sonic on the GBA wouldn't be out of the question...

    The gamegear DRAINED batteries because of the backlit screen. And as for the games being better, I guess that's just a matter of personal preference. I've played some fun games on both, but i could never stand to play Sonic or any other side scrollers on GG. Even walking at a slow pace meant vomit-inducing motion blur. oof.

    christ... ever heard of the CLASSIC gaming? or VINTAGE gaming? I don't know whether or not the GBA is enough of a system to pull off Doom well enough to keep it fun, but If it can handle the game as well as my old 486 did back in the day, then i'd be up for playing it. I can't think of a better way I'd like to kill time at work, or in between classes at school...

    You kids these days have WAY to high of expectations. If you're not playing something better than the top of the line game that's already out then it's not worth your time.

    I think that information, along with the comment about holding 90% of the handheld market was pulled from the How Stuff Works link. On that page they're referring to this being the first horizonal gameboy design...

    At this point I figure if a game is worth my hard earned money then they'll put out a version that I can play without a reboot.

    If a game is worth my hard earned money, then I'm going to play the game regardless of whether or not i have to spend a whole hard earned 2 minutes doing a hard earned reboot, and i'm NOT going to whine about it.

    you'd think the game just bit you, you're crying so hard...

    Forget the gamecube then, and get a Game Boy Advance. The game line up looks to be a lot of SNES-ish looking games. And if the predicted price range ($80-$100 for the system, $20-40 for the games), I know i'll be buying this before i even consider a gamecube.
