Actually, LSB exists specifically for this purpose. The answer is that Adobe would package Photoshop into an RPM with all of its dependencies (besides standard ones like gtk and glibc) and distribute it that way. Many distributions are LSB-compliant, and most that aren't still distribute RPM. Both Debian and Gentoo do.
"Compare this to NASA who has been grounded for how long now?"
The last Space Shuttle also disintigrated mid-flight, killing all seven occupants of the vehicle. And you're complaining that they've grounded the fleet for what will amount to a couple years? Sorry, but you can't compare the two.
Since you thought of it, let's assume you're one of the "smart" ones. How about you do it, and we'll all track your progress. If you fail, we'll laugh. If you succeed, we'll all wish we had done it, too. Deal?
Ok, I did what you said, and even used a brand new browser (Opera, rarely ever use it, cleared everything anyway). When I get to the link, I see a login page for my free registration, then am taken straight to the article.
The problem here is that you can only care about so many principles at the same time. If you did everything out of principle, you'd be reduced to a huddling ball in the corner of your bare homemade lean-to.
I suspect some people care about the operating system they run, but just want to watch their favorite movies in a convenient format. Others care about the principles of fair use, but drive gas-guzzling SUVs. Others drive hybrids, but buy Nike and Gap.
Did you actually find a page where you can configure one with Linux? I clicked on the nx5000, then Configure, then was presented with four configuration options, all of which included Windows XP. They don't seem to let you switch, either.
Though remember, it's still illegal to download 'em. I asked Activision about Mech1, they confirmed it. "Saving it for a possible future compendium" they said.
Haha, yeah, I have More Lemmings, Christmas Lemmings, and 3D Lemmings laying around here somewhere. The first two are on semi-corrupted 3.5" floppies, though.
Why can't they just add a new HTTP header called TRANSID or something (transaction ID). It'd be like a cookie, but it'd be invisible to everything except the browser and the server.
Well, I never had an ipod, but I have dropped my Nomad Jukebox from a few feet flat onto a hardwood floor. Something rattles when I shake it, but it works fine.
Time magazine had a blurb on Fark last month. They said it was one guy that posted a bunch of things in the morning and had them timed to appear throughout the day. He spends most of his time hanging out in sports bars.
It's also better for computer labs and such, because they only have to maintain 1 app instead of 2. I've worked in labs that have Netscape installed, but no IM apps or anything. Except Netscape includes AIM, so I can have my cake and eat it, too.
I had a similar experience in Half-Life, actually. At one point I ended up at a door that I needed a cop to open, but they had all already been killed off in the firefight. And I hadn't saved for a while, either.
That put me off Half-Life for a good long while, but I'll probably pick it up again before HL2 comes out.
Or if you write a lot of Fortran77 code (common in engineering).

As others have said, the launch pad is very close to the border with Alberta.
Who says he wasn't blaming the moderators?

No, he's right. Mozilla-based apps use libpr0n to render images. Don't know if that somehow links to libpng as well, though.

The BBC makes a newspaper? You sure you're not thinking of the Times or the Mirror?
Yep, you're wrong. The article is still there and is as readable as it was on day 1.

Did you actually try to configure one? The only option they let you choose (AFAIK) is Windows XP.
If you want support and easy configuration, try DriverLoader. It's only $20, and it works great on my Dell TrueMobile 1300 card (Broadcom chip).

I second UT. Plays on Linux, and still as enjoyable as day 1.

Go into your gconf editor and look for a pref called "always_use_browser". It's in Apps > Nautilus > Preferences.

A better example: I have a picture of my sister and one of my friends. Do I file it under "Sister", or "Friend"? What's the answer?
With a new filesystem, it would be "both", and without ending up with two files.

Offtopic. SpaceShipOne wasn't designed for orbital flight.
