Even if you could squeeze the hydrogen into really tight spaces in a heated crystal structure then cool it to get atomic forces to squeeze the hydrogen to an insane degree, you still won't come close to enough force to get proton capture.

So.... Are you sure about that? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyroelectric_fusion
Sure it's not a positive energy fusion reaction, but they're doing exactly what you're describing and obtaining fusion. So you might want to reconsider your position.

RDR was boring as hell. You run around in a sandbox where 99% of it is just boring stupid stuff. 10% of the time you just fall from a big height while galloping around on your hose. There is almost no interaction between you and the environment, the mini games are retarded, and the only thing that even is fun is to play the main story line which in a huge sandbox environment seems retarded since the story line is as straight and boring (with no choices) as you can get in a game. While it's ok, it misses the point of a sandbox type game. Compared to GTA the fun factor is way down there and subsequently people get bored of it and stop playing it after they get over the fact that it's a western sandbox with almost nothing to do in it but the storyline.

ohh so inform me how a foreign country is going to shut down all communication. I would love to hear that. Last i checked, there's phone and radio as backup to loss of the internet. Backbone routers go down every day, rerouting occurs and their fixed. What you're suggesting is that everyone in the US gets DDOSed all at once? I somehow doubt you realize how the internet works. How there are all private networks that interconnect at multiple different places, that if a private network goes down it doesn't affect everyone.

So in your example you say i won't be able to communicate with my teachers, enroll in classes? I can't, you know, bring my laptop, connect to their wireless network on campus, sign into their webpages through their intranet and email/sign up/do whatever i want in the case that the internet was turned off?
Sure it would be inconvenient to actually go to campus, be in range of their wifi, talk to my teachers face to face (ohh noes!), sign up for classes at the registrar, etc. It's a loss of convenience, nothing else.
A hard copy of my resume? You mean a printed out copy? Yes, i have many of those. Surely you don't go to interviews without printing it out a few times? How will this national cyberwar affect optical data?
The whole thing is insanity. Drop it. We're more likely to get hit by a meteor and have the earth explode than suddenly lose the internet.

Therefore the safe bet is to stay at home, collect until you can't then start looking for a job.
Fix that problem so they can collect until they find a job paying them at least up to 75% of what they were making before and that issue will probably go away.
There are cases where someone got unemployment, immediately found another job and after a few weeks got laid off again and could not get unemployment again. Why risk that?

Thought the best place for the turbines would be at the top and having the tower insulated could also be used to heat steam powered turbines at the bottom. Sounds like this idea would work, but would be watered down since they're basically using a partial vacuum do the work of drawing the air up and they're not using the heated air for anything besides making a temperature difference.

Ok let me get this straight.
You want to build a tower that's 2600 ft tall (that's about 1/2 a mile up in the air) when the tallest skyscraper comes in at a whopping 2700 ft tall (by comparison the empire state building is 1250ft tall). You want to then put a few hundred tons of turbine equipment on top of this tower and probably several tons insulation (1/2 a mile ride up a tower and the air will surely cool down, not to mention the increases pressure of the air). Sounds like a great idea! The cost will probably be in the billions, maybe the greenhouse that grows plants in the middle of the desert might offset the costs right?

Might as well try to build the tower straight down in the ground 1/2 a mile and tap into geo thermal energy. That's actually not half as ridiculous as this idea.
