I was an engineer in Silicon Valley and couldn't afford to live in Palo Alto. Why the fuck would any poor person choose to settle in such a high priced area?
Heck, I got out because I couldn't afford the housing and moved East to the cheaper places.

She lost her own game. Similar to her trying to stack the deck with Superdelegates during the primary.
We had two very bad choices. Myself, I was tired of more of the Obama machine. I'm scared of what Trump may do but I believe the machine needs to be shaken up. Whenever I read that the "Democrats don't like a Trump appointee" (which is so far, every one), I rhetorically-think "well, that's good enough for me, they might be OK".
I am so sick and tired of politics as usual.
I see Trump as a form of social political dissidence.
Given Microsoft's trickery in attempting people to download Win10, I'll stay away from it.
It's sad. When I go to a store and see the new PCs, part of me wants to buy the latest. However, when I see "Win 10" listed as the OS, there is NO WAY I will buy a PC with that operating system.
So... I stay with my Win7 systems and have migrated another laptop to Linux Mint, in preparation for completely pulling the plug on Microsoft operating systems once Win7 is no longer usable.
If Microsoft would keep the UI simple (like Win XP/7) and get rid of the forced updates (I have a 10 GB/month data cap on my satellite internet) as well as eliminating the fucking "telemetry", I might consider a new OS but it doesn't look like that is going to happen.
So... burn in hell, Microsoft. Along with your crappy operating system, you are preventing future hardware sales.
Security doors and lockable windows won't do shit. Having just gone through a house gutting/remodel, all one needs to do to enter is cut a hole in the outside sheeting and break through the interior sheet rock to enter.
Using a battery powered cutoff saw with a composite blade would allow most people to simply cut through the sheet metal "security door".
You'd be better off with encrypted offsite backup and make sure your HDD/disc array is encrypted too.
In my job, we had the "working from home" folks. We could more often than not, be unable to reach them on phone, let alone email. I ran in to situations where they'd be on a phone on a tractor or calling from Toys R' Us.
We had one guy that lived in Paradise, California and used to lob dye and pry jobs to us. We had another that would try to get us to do his job for him "because it's my work from home day and I can't come in". We had another slacker living in Maui. Gimme a break. The typical response would be "I can get more work done at home than if I came in". Horse shit!
It is regularly-abused.
Get your lazy ass in to the office. Meet people. Bounce ides offa one another. Don't be so goddamned lazy! If you're a hardware engineer, you need to put your fucking hands on hardware. It cannot be done remotely. Software weenies can be on the end of a LAN anywhere in the world and at the cheap.
I agree that if the job can be done over a network, it can be moved to India. However, if you really need to get hands on, get your fuckin' ass in to the plant and get to work and don't call me on the phone and ask me to do your job for you.
My sister bought an Apple laptop because "the Windows one got viruses". Here daughters would click on anything.
My Bro in law bought an Apple tablet. Now he's reduced himself to 2 or three word replies to messages because he can't type on it but he always buys the latest one.
Some tools. Needle nose pliers, wire cutters, wire strippers, small ratchet wrench set, nut drivers, screw drivers, a cheap multimeter (analog so they don't get dumbed down). A small hammer, some vice grips, dikes, soldering iron and solder.
Then get them a book on electronic projects and some old piece of crap TV or radio that no longer works. Have them take it apart. Try measuring stuff with the multimeter. Maybe a crystal radio kit.
If you're really in to it, find an old Heathkit shortwave receiver that hasn't been built yet (it'll cost you) or anything else by the same name.
Show them how to "get all of the smoke out of a part".
What first starts out as destruction turns (hopefully) in to construction.
Model rocketry too...
It all worked for me and I still have all of my eyes and fingers:-)
One thing led to another and I ended up with a long career as an engineer.

That really is a comical book. I liked his story about breaking in to the General's safe.
Help me Jeebuz!
Why don't they just simplify the form.
Check one:
I am a terrorist __
I am not a terrorist __
There. That will work.

Some times, ya really need to get out.
The U.S. has been outsourcing pollution to China, India and other countries for decades.
Tell me that Apple, H.P., Dell and the rest could get away with the pollution their products cause in China (for example) in the U.S.
The CEOs are rated on profit and when they can maximize profit in polluting countries, those cretins get their rewards.
Nothing new here.
I understand your feelings.
Similarly, I couldn't believe how the Republicans gave us Palin for a V.P. candidate.
Similar disconnect with reality.
If this is what our election system yields us, then bring in the clowns.
Perhaps we need a clown.
We've already had a puppet and his runner up lost the election.

It's better than civil war.
We need hope and change.
Hey, no problem. The air is clean here. We outsource our pollution to China and India.
Corporate CEOs love that stuff. It's what they get measured by.

IOW, your are a slacker.
It's nice to separate work from home.

People that spend too much on Apple products are similar to folks that spend lots of money on expensive purses.
No.
Russians made them do it.
Addicts.
People will buy Apple crap solely about the name.

I am curious why Hillary has been so silent throughout all of this.
Additionally, I'm also wondering why she hasn't commented on the sour grapes protesters whining over the lost election.
Does she advocate blocking highways, damaging property and this continual whining over the election?
Why doesn't she tell them to grow up?
Very well-stated.
I am very disappointed by the integrity of the press as well as the Democrats regarding this subject.
It's the *content* of the emails that needs to be questioned, not the source.
I'm just glad it got out.
I wholeheartedly agree with you.
Not one mention of the damning email content.
Only that they got out.
This is what cracks me up.
No one is holding Hillary responsible for the damning *content* of her (and Podesta's) emails.
Only that they got caught.
I don't give a rat's ass who revealed the emails. I'm just glad the truth got out.
If that's "manipulating the election" then I say Hillary, the DNC and Podesta's COMMENTS caused the change.
Let's not shoot the messenger. Let's just be glad the messages got out.
I need one of these CEO jobs. One where I can be negligent, ignoring security issues and get paid millions.
I also need one that will give me tens of millions for getting terminated for doing a crappy job.
Frankly, if I were in Yahoo's CEO position and did nothing, it would likely be better than what the existing CEO has "accomplished".
He's working for the Russians like every other person that gets in to the Democrat party's email.
He doesn't speak English well. :-^
Hats off to you.
Swan 350C here. Going to fire it up again soon.
Having parents that are encouraging is the best. Also having the same parents allowing independence to some extent.

Oh what a pussy.
We all survived "hot chassis" radios and TVs.
If you're so worried, include an isolation transformer.
