I have had an Intel Mac mini running XP for a home surveillance monitor/server 24/7 for approx. 5 years and it has *never* crashed, and I do a preventative restart about every 60 days. Simultaneously, I have had the identical software running on an identical install of XP on no less than 4 different PC hardware with similar CPUs (both Intel and AMD) and RAM with regular, almost daily crashing, BSD, or freezing.

Unmotivated, struggling students: do they really belong in college in the first place? And if they manage to get pushed through via in-depth, one-on-one intervention by instructors, then they're also lowering the quality of education for everyone else.
The problem is parachuting in the nerdy IT guy to set it up plus his supply of Code Red Mountain Dew and Doritos. So far, tests of their survivability has been dismal.
So, the misconduct incidence among male scientists mirrors exactly the misconduct incidence among male non-scientists (by-gender incarceration rates.) Erm...okay.
but they're still actual human beings - not a faceless entity - who make the decisions and understand the ramifications, so they and all of the other corporations (and individuals) who seek tax havens are essentially privateers and definitely scumbags.

Amen. Earthlink DSL customer here in California since 2000, no worries about ISP monitoring, throttling, peak-time congestion, etc. and likewise I cut off even cable TV infiltration 2 years ago (just watching OTA antenna TV and loving it.)

Interesting product, but like the Zune it will not connect with enough consumers, corporate or otherwise. That, plus W8 is awful. MS should have spent resources making 7 viable instead of scrapping everything for the "tiles." Ugh.
...my dad was a physicist at ECD (when Ovshinsky owned it) in Troy, MI back in ca. '70 and I was about 8 years old at the time. We used to go to his house for dinner and BBQs a lot and he would stock my favorite pop (strawberry Faygo) for me at his house. He was a very nice guy.
