    Ok, so i'm a finn and I can't put my viruses on a finn website. Boohoo, I'll just put them on a geocities website. My plan for a new goverment, is that everyone in a disicion making department must take a test on what they are trying to regulate. Uf they don't pass the test, they don't get to vote.

    I Read through all the comments of people who think they are all that and a bag of chips becuase they installed slackware. And then they call this winlinux an emulator, and make up things like it does partition becuase its imposible to install linux on fat. Which proves my point that the distro doesn't tell you how smart the person is. I run redhat and I knew about running linux on a fat partition, and i can read and find out that it reboots the computer, so most likely guys, its not emulating linux. So mabey some of you slackware guys should spend less time flaming and more time learning linux. Or are you too coool for that?

    Most of my teachers just read off the overhead hour after hour. I don't see why I can't get that from sitting at home reading a monitor. If professors don't like virtual universities its their fault. They are the ones that stopped teaching, putting their students in charge of classes, ignored students, made boring lectures, gave imposible tests.

    Ok linux compatible.. what libs do you have what libc do you have? I know, when we release something, lets make sure we compile for every release of linux and make sure that if one version doesn't have the correct libraries that we find out what libraries it does have and fix the code for that. Or just release a product with no specs, and when it doesn't run on your 'homebrew' linux instalation you can be pissed off at IBM, I bet they love it when they sell stuff that pisses people off, I bet you didn't know that pissing people of makes your market share go up. Oh ya.. don't forget to make a package for every distrobution too; rpm,tgz,deb.... Think before you open your mouth.

    A year ago I thought getting an alpha would be great. Run linux on the thing and everything runs just fine... nope. All you people saying you are going to go out and get one of these things and just run linux are going to have a big surprise. First problem is alot of source will not compile or if it does it won't work correctly on your system (alpha still doesn't have a web browsers yet), next when you go out and get your copy of wordperfect or star office for linux, its not going to work for you. So you'll be sitting there with a computer that doesn't even have a decent word processor. If you people want a real computer get a real computer, Ever heard of Solaris? beats the hell out of linux any day. Linux is written by a bunch of kids all over the place, Solaris is written by compitent programmers getting paid to program. If you want a real computer don't waste your money on a Apple, go out and get a Sparc. Or at least an alpha, people at least make binaries for alpha. ok.. flame away for me making fun of your baby linux operating system, becuase we all know linux is great, linux is wounderfull, linux is.... blah blah blah

    Microsoft isnt' stealing servers, if they were stealing servers, they would be using them for 100% of the chatting, but they are using their servers for their stuff, and if you want to talk to your friend you connect to an aol server? Mabey AOL should get some crap for not letting people link to them (like irc) AOL wanted to be on the internet, and now they are running scared becuase other kids are there too. I hope AOL goes under with all its bad ideas. Just becuase microsoft is doing it doesn't make it bad, get your head out of your ass. And yes... aol does advertise on AIM.

    That was a horrible article. Whats up with saying the only reason he said this was becuase he was in trouble with the court. He already has a charity and its one of the biggest chairties in the world! He's been doing this before this stupid trial. Some people need to get their heads out of their butts and realize that bill gates isn't evil just because hes successfull. Mabey we should start shunning slashdot, all the linux people read it... its getting really popular, almost taking out the other news sites. Mabey we should take slashdot to court, they are killing the competition. They make it too hard for small tech writers to start up.
    Wake up and realize if it wasn't for bill gates you would all be using 1 button macintoshes.

    If you want the goverment to spend more money on space this is what you have to do.
    1)Have a 3rd party is money build a small orbiting space station
    2)shoot the earth with missels with this new space station. (the white house and stuff)
    3)The goverment will give 100trillion dollars to defense to build a space ship.
    4)in about 20 years it will be de-clasified and nasa can have the technology.

    the only way to get something done in this country is to blow stuff up.

    This guy has only himself to blame for all of his work. If he knew what he was doing, he would not have to go to every workstation to fix them. They made this neat thing called DHCP. And they have the equivilent for the routers. Mabey you should try some planning before you go off and do something. If you have to go to a users desk to do something, then your doing something wrong. Thats whats really wrong with this industry, all these people that think they are super duper hot shots, and they don't know crap, but at least they know more then the average monkey. Then they go and screw everything up, and then when they fix their own mistake, management is like, your so smart.

    Why would any service provider use this? How many service providers have a direct connection to the other location, and what happens when a bird flys through the beam, or something else blocks it.
    Lucent should try making something usefull for a change. inferno and now this... they had so much potential

    Hey look... someone ran their mouth without doing any research... mabey if you read red-hats web site you would see that some versions of redhat don't install on laptops. Hmm.. Shut the fuck up unless you actually thought before hand.

    I read the webpage, and then found a way to install it on my laptop. Things get done when you stop bitching and try to get it to work.
