Obesity is always caused by shoveling more food into your mouth than you can digest.
Hmm... I think you need to replace the word "digest" with something else (i.e. your body can burn off the exceeding nutrient). If your body can't digest, it doesn't make you fat but rather come out as whatever it is, and you know what...
... the simple fact is there is no way to get fat without overeating.
Again, word choice... It should be "in general," not "simple fact." Why? There is a way to get fat without "over eating." If you know how to turn on survival mode and that would significantly reduce your body metabolism. As a result, you will gain weight even though you eat food less than the amount your body normally need.
In any case, life isn't fair. People who are simply bigger naturally (even if very fit) will get charged a bit more but the physics of the situation doesn't care. They ARE going to cause the plane to burn more fuel than someone smaller and that's just a fact. I prefer not to have to subsidize their share of the fuel costs for the flight. I'll pay for what I use and they can pay for what they use and I think that is quite fair at the end of the day.
I agree that life is not about fairness. However, your point of view seems to be that "it is not fair for you and I am not one of you, so you all suck it up." I am wondering if you are one of them, how difference your point of view would be. Oh, by the way, I am weight height proportionate, but I still think it is unfair to think that people's weight should be considered. However, if we are talking about the weight of belonging, then I wouldn't mind charging that by weight because it is a much more controllable parameter for each individual.
To me, this is just a way a big corporation scheme attempting to reduce their cost by pushing the blame on passenger. I highly doubt that the weight of passengers plus their belonging would actually reach the limit of a passenger air plane can carry. Usually a passenger air plane would carry freight and that is also their revenue. Even though it is not much compared to overall revenue of a flight, the corporation would never want to mention about it because their customer is another big corporation -- being one of them.
So if I take gas money from a friend on a trip am I a chauffeur? Do I need insurance? I bet that there have been instances of people being sued for the if your in an accident.
You are going too far away. Friends are people you know. Uber customers often time are not. However, there are instances that friends becomes ex-friends and sue the other after an accident. Easiest way to see is all those Judge shows:P If you want more reliable examples, look for small claim court cases and/or arbitrary.
The idea that some people are just born programmers and some are not is ridiculous...
That is just liberal hogwash. Some people are better at some things than others, and no amount of forced classes or training is going to make them any better at it.
True and false. I just don't understand whenever we talk about learning, why do people look at it as black and white. In other words, why do they look at learning as CAN or CANNOT.
Every single person has CAPABILITY, which is the limitation of learning, and LEARNING SPEED; however, EACH person could easily have different level of capability & learning speed. Not everyone can learn the same thing and achieve the same level of knowledge.
If we look at learning this way, we will UNDERSTAND that both quotes above (from GP & OP) are WRONG. Some people are born programmers because they have capability to be (and could have higher capability than average). Also some people cannot learn fast, so there is a certain amount of classes or training that those people need in order to achieve the required level.
First, you have to be really lucky to find a place that has directly opposig [sic] winds at different nearby altitudes. This is what makes Albuquerque such a favorite place for ballooning.
I thought TFA is talking about the project in Sri Lanka?
A credible threat of bodily injury should be a crime. The specific means of accomplishing that should be irrelevant.
I just stated my opinion against GP because GP oversimplify and focusing on the word "having." Even though the "accomplishing" could be the same -- damage/injure/kill the target, a car has a lot more usefulness in general than a gun. Specific mean or not, I stated their major use anyhow.
And at the time they also knew no anatomy because they didn't conduct dissections. So acupuncture was practised in China by people who didn't even know what muscles were. Any credible modern research on acupuncture is conducted on the Western version, which is totally different.
Please define "anatomy" in your reply. If you don't know anything about Chinese history and/or medicines, you should at least research for some. Even though I am not a fan of acupuncture, I do not completely ignore and lump it up with other alternate medicines.
And then your accomplice has to get your half to you. A bank transfer of seven million is a little incriminating, or if they give you a suitcase of cash, you can't just lodge it into your account. "Enjoying" your money isn't so easy when you have to avoid ever creating a record of having the money.
Well there is more on this thing when you are including "taxes." The taxes would eventually help to find its way back to the employee's plan. By the way, for 14 millions and if he chooses to do 50:50, the whole taxes witholding may be on him and that would net him 3.5 millions instead of 7 millions.
ROFL. Unless Iowa requires the purchaser of a lotto ticket to show id at the time of purchase, whoever signs the ticket is the "purchaser." He foiled the lottery, if he didn't want to get caught, he shouldn't have laid ANY claim to it, and sold the "winning lottery ticket" on the street for $500. Sure, it's a lot less than the 15,000,000 that was the prize, and sure, it even sounds like a lousy scam, but his chances of getting caught would be significantly lessened.
Would you go through all the troubles just for $500 or a couple thousand dollars when you may have (or plan to have) a chance of millions? I highly doubt you (or anyone) would do what you said. I think your reply makes no sense at all and rather is silly.
Not sure what that has to do with anything. If you are threatening to kill someone by running them over with your car, I would think that should have the same legality as threatening to kill them with a firearm. Just having/using a car and having/using a firearm for without violence or threat of violence should be legal.
To me, a car has other purposes -- to transport; whereas, a gun has only one purpose -- to destroy/damage the target.
Concerns have also been raised over the years about a persistent gender gap in U.S. math achievement. All six members of this year's winning team are boys. "That is actually something that one hopes will change," Loh says. "The top 12 people in the country on the United States Math Olympiad happen to have two girls in it. One might say, 'Only 2 out of 12, that's terrible.' But I should say in many years, it was, unfortunately, zero."
That's from TFA. The mentioning 2 females are in the top 12 in the U.S. but they aren't good (high rank) enough to be included in the competition, I guess. Anyhow, gender has nothing to do with this and they (coaches) should never mention in their interview.
Why would the lights go out or the servers go down? I would think as technology advances, these types of incidents would become fewer and farther between - eventually not happening at all.
But it would cause more chaos because people are used to the technology so much that they don't know what to do when the situation occurs...
Does H-1B allow holders to change jobs or is the visa tied to the specific job?
If you are talking about changing employer, then the answer is YES if 1)you didn't sign any non-compete agreement (NCA) or 2)you signed NCA but the new job is not conflicted with the NCA. A H1B holder can change his/her employer if the person wants to, but the person MUST have another H1B sponsor (new employer) and the new employer MUST file a new H1B for the holder. It is similar to restarting of the process with a little different of submitting document; however, the time limit is still counted toward maximum 6 years.
If you are talking about job type, then the answer is NO. A H1B is filed based on the type of job. The holder must be working with the title/type of the same job. For example, a person files for H1B as programmer. The new employer MUST file H1B under programmer. However, there exists some employers who file H1B under one title but use the H1B holder to do different type of jobs. It is difficult to verify whether employers are following the law...
The type of certs you are talking about do not apply to programming... Unlike administrative certs, a computer language won't easily change or update its mechanism (i.e. change from 0-index to 1-index) including newer languages. Besides, learning a new language (syntax) is easy (as they test you in cert exams). Applying the language to solve all kind of problems can't be learnt in a couple weeks! Thus, you don't need to have a cert to show that you know how to work with the language. Experience and time will teach you that.
However, as someone has already said, the certs are for showing to bypass those HR people because these people know nothing about the field. They want to use something as standard, so that they can say they know what they are doing (but really...). The certs are created for these people only!
And would you agree that getting a signed piece of paper from them is as meaningless as the piece of paper Chamberlain got from Hitler?
Well, at least you can attack them with a reason when they don't honor the said "meaningless piece of paper" (think of it as a warrant when police invade your house)???
I didn't go to college to gain knowledge, I went to get educated. As a teacher so eloquently put it, anyone with internet access has access to more knowledge than they know what to do with.
I agree. However, the knowledge you gained from the Internet may or may not be correct though...
Hmm... Isn't a license plate tied to a car VIN in the database? If so, a license plate check will know whether it is attached to the right car even though the car is the same color/model registered to the plate.
It's the same end result. I used to work for a game distributor, and just like every other distributor in every other industry, there are channel managers who decide what products they think are worth trying to distribute. If your product comes across as unmarketable, then your game was effectively "un-buyable". Obviously this is no longer true in the age of the Internet, but the same goes for government censorship attempts.
Even though the results look similar, you can't still say censorship is the same and no one wants. One is to intentionally block (force) and the other is demand & supply (willingness). If you said the result is the same anyway regardless the path to get there, then there is a huge problem with your thought.
What if your family is starving to death. You attempt to get food to feed them by either stealing from others or working hard to earn food for your family. Yes, the result is the same -- your family get fed -- but the approach to get there are 2 completely different paths. Please don't over simplify by looking only at the results.
If I have to put all unnecessary keywords in my resume just to get through the company's screening process, I would not want to work for the company. The reason is that if that company hires inefficient people and/or uses inefficient hiring process, I can't imagine how bad situation would I be to deal with their HR in the future...
I never allow my phone to connect to any WiFi network I don't trust, that's just stupid. And it never downloads updates unless it's on WiFi. So that pretty much leaves only updating my phone at work or at home.
Even though users must be cautious on security, not EVERYONE has that understanding! You could do it yourself, great and good for you. How about other laymen? How about you bought and gave an Android phone to your kids? Do you think they won't try to connect to any WiFi whenever they can in order to play/update apps/games?
Using yourself as standard usually doesn't work. It is simply your expectation that others know and will do the right thing. Good luck to you to be able to succeed this, but sadly not everyone is [sarcastic] as smart as [/sarcastic] you are.
