STOP BUYING COPY PROTECTED CD'S, or cd's for that manner.
listen to radio, XM, Sirius, make your own, etc.
maybe someday music industry will see that people aren't buying their copy protected cd's, pull their heads out of their asses, and realize that they (as a company) are susposed to be providing a service to people, and not just padding their bank accounts.
right now they only support their hardware(and some addons), but with x86 there are soo many combos of hardware, it'll be VERY hard to support it all. now, if they say they are supporting this and that, but not the other, why would windows users(or linux ones for that matter) switch?
oh well only time well tell what they are going to do.
worldcom isn't going to turn off the lights... if/when they file for chapter 11 bankrupsy protection, it reduces their debt, and they will probably do another layoff, or sell chunks of the company. chances are worldcom will survive, abit their reputation will be extreemly tainted.
The Hewlett family(i do believe) was fighting against the merger. She is saying this to make the Hewlett family back down, and let the merger pass, or loose the PC market... it's her hail mary pass.
2.4.13 has been stable for me, and i'm not going to upgrade from it unless there is a bug/security problem that affects me.(or untill i start testing the 2.5.x series)
critic's wouldn't know a good movie if it came up and smacked them on the back of the head... if i see a preview that looks good, i'm going to see it, and could care less what the critics say.
I don't know about all of you, but when my wife and I go to that movie, and usually leave entertained... now isn't that the point of going to a movie? To relax, and watch something that is far fetched, geeky, romantic, stupid, etc?
Why do we have critics anymore? I look at a preview, if it looks good, I go, if not, I don't. it's that simple.
accually the kernel http server got yanked out at the begining of 2.5.x
you only need to install Qt, or the GTk libs.

they upgraded some equipment, and later the new upgrades took a dump. when they fix one, another breaks.
support costs will kill them.

the internet is NOT going to be turned off...
they didn't compare it to open bsd because this was a comparison of "secure" linux distros.
;)
yeah OBSD would have taken it
there needs to be a group of people to do exactly what open bsd does... thorough code reviews, not just in the kernel, but glibc, etc..
it looks like it's for game mods. not the full blown source.

nobody said you have to give them YOUR name and number
accually WorldCom got wall street up and online... Verizon just took credit for the work.
to get people to be aware of their code, and get them to download it.

i take it you are in the MOB. i was there for 3 years, and know how all that was. it's really fun trying to splice wires in MOPP 4.
That's what williams communications did (initally, before being bought the first time)... Well they used their old oil pipe lines, but same effect.

they could adapt it to explode all those mines, and un expolded ordinance out there. should be pretty effective.
next they will be after irc servers... sheesh. we can't have anything cool anymore without someone crying that they aren't making money on it.
