You would be confusing the civil state of marriage with the standard religious state of marriage.

Any 2 people can do whatever they want. Every state of marriage is not about the union of 2 people, but rather a political or religious term used to grant status and/or privileges to said people.

Some political jurisdictions will not allow a union of 2 same sex people to be labelled a marriage. Most religious institutions will also not allow this.

Think about it, what is marriage? It has absolutely nothing to do with the union of 2 people. It's a political term currently being used to enforce control over certain groups of people.

Here, in Canada, you most certainly can now have a legal (politically) marriage of a same-sex couple. You can not however be granted a 'religious' marriage unless the religious authority in question chooses to do so. (Separation of church and state anyone?) Not that this is a big deal for most gay people as most don't want that label until such a time as any given religion can reform to not be prejudiced or discriminatory. (Sure, there are some that are members of whatever church that are fighting internally for this to change, but they are fairly rare. If I was gay, a hardline religious organization is the very LAST place I'd want to spend my time)

Expand your horizons my friend, and don't believe all the FUD you hear.

I cannot agree with this at all.
Myst's target audience was never the CS fragger crowd, or the fanboy platformer crowd, or any of the other standard game crowds.

Know who played the Myst games the most? People that don't play games as a general rule. People that have never played a game on a computer other than solitaire and minesweeper. My parents played the Myst games.

My thinking is that it's actually Reality Television that has kinda killed these kind of games. No, I've got no proof, but anecdotally, TV was sucking pretty hard a number of years ago. (OK, it still sucks hard and always will, but for the masses...) At the same time, the Internet was booming, people were buying computers for the first time and trying to find things to do with them. Myst and other adventure games filled a niche at that time. Times have changed.

I personally love nothing better than a very challenging adventure/puzzle game. I'm sad to see that Myst IV isn't coming to light because this niche is currently, and has been for a few years now, sorely lacking.

I'm guessing that he's calculated how much bandwidth he's got available, and the minimum amount of time it would take to hit 1,000,000 downloads given that bandwidth. Probably worked it out so the 1,000,000th couldn't possibly be downloaded before 9:30 am CET.

If it is possible though, and it could indeed happen, he's an idiot for saying he'd do this as he obviously has no way of following through. I guess the short term publicity gained though would likely offset any bad feelings for failing to follow through on such a challenge.

My beef is that I'm still running a dual PIII setup. There are no desktop dual chip boards for P4. So, I can get more raw speed but sacrifice awesome multitasking performance. Wtf? And no, a single Hyperthreaded P4 does most certainly not compare to 2 dedicated chips. Its just a neat trick that can help in some cases. (Been using HT Xenons in servers for years now, they are NOT 2 for one, but they are good)

So yeah, why is it that there really isn't a valid replacement on the market for a 4 year old dual proc machine?
