You know, if my kid's school ever tried to force him to use Linux, I'd pull him out immediately and send him to private school. Or, failing that, at least a school that can afford a decent operating system. But that's just my opinion.
Windows has 95% of the desktop market. Linux... does not. If someone wished to see Linux gain marketshare (and granted, this is probably the eventual goal of very few) then maybe similarities to an OS that's actually popular would help.
haha, I love it when you fucking foreigners try to post in english. you're so lovably incomprehensible! although I do wish you would shut the fuck up before I lose my patience with you, and your little schtick stops being so amusing.
When I saw the subject line of the parent post, I thought he was going to say, "I hate to be the one to tell you this, but that 'Jamaican' was actually in West Philadelphia."
Not one post pointing out what a bunch of fucking losers everyone is? Christ, what is your fixation with all this anime bullshit? Get a life, it's really not that hard to do...
in regard to ls, alas, no, it doesn't seem to. but that doesn't impact windows 2000's status as the finest desktop operating system on the market today.
Glad to see I wasn't the only one who thought that. Or, in keeping with the theme of the day, glad to see to whom I was not the only one to which that was thought.
My god, this is one of the more hideously unfunny things I've ever read. I see slashdot now awards a +1, Funny by default to every Mastercard 'parody', no matter how lame.
I think what ed's trying to say is that, yes, it does look basically recovered compared to something like this. The point is that Microsoft is still a successful, financially viable corporation. Its stock price is at the same relative position as that of many old economy companies.
I own a bit of Microsoft, and the fact that it hasn't lost me any money over the last year and a half (when I bought it) speaks very highly of its value to me. Had I bought VA Linux at the same time... well, I'll leave that up to Eric Raymond to discuss.
Once again, The Atlantic Monthly has shown itself to be exactly what its name implies: it is nothing more than a mouthpiece for the contemptuous arrogance of the Anglo-American/Ivy League/Washington-insider "Establishment."
Unfortunately, that paragraph also happened to be the first one. Here's a hint, guys, if you want your point to get across, for the love of God, please don't open your rebuttal with something as obviously biased as that.
Hey dude, keep 'em coming. I can assure you that if I actually gave a shit about karma, I would have stopped posting long ago. Check out my posting history, for Christ's sakes. So I'm going to go ahead and post them, and wait for the downward spiral to being. Bring it on!
Dude, those cards are sweet. If you can't figure out a use for them, I'll gladly buy one from you. I'm serious. Post a reply if you're interested.

An entirely uninformed observation, but isn't the need for different twist lengths in twisted pair required because there are two (or more, I don't know) live wires in there? Why would EM be an issue in speaker wire, with one live wire and one ground? If you can clarify this for me, I obviously need it.

- She re-twisted each or her speaker cables at just the right twists per length to get the best sound of the music she's used to.
Does anyone have a technical explanation if, and why, this would make a difference in sound quality?
She measured exactly the length of each wire and suspended on the walls.
Well, shit. Guess that makes her an audiophile. On another note, recent research has determined that some people don't like excess speaker wire lying about their homes. Go figure.
God, you're a prick.

I whole-heartedly concur, good sir. Where do they find these people anyway?
First post on the dumbest question ever. And what the hell does cheap ram have to do with a digital camera? Last time I checked, RAM was volatile...

That would have been funny.

Ooooh. Do elaborate. No, really. Please?

Eh, he had a point. A bit of elaboration would have been nice. It's not that infamous after all.
I clicked on the link in your sig and nothing happened.
Oh wait, I'm running Windows 2000.

I stopped reading after this paragraph.

Glad to see my remark was taken in jest. I knew I shoulda thrown a smiley in there.
(which supposedly is supposedly not terrible well-written from a legal standpoint),
Kinda like how that sentence (?) is supposedly not well-written from a grammatical standpoint?
What I find amazing is that I bought $1 billion worth of software (Windows 2000) at my college's bookstore for $5.

If you're just getting dates now that you've stopped watching TV, the problem lies with you, not with television.
Just my thoughts. Congratulations, though.
