Red Hat would be one of the first choices to choose when moving from Unix to Linux because of the support options. The fact that RH uses rpm's is nearly irrelevant. Most of the Linux servers in operation today are in fact RH servers.
You are missing one difference. No matter how many gunked up distros are released you can always customize Linux to your liking. There will always be distros like Debian, Slackware, Gentoo, LSF...etc.
So there will be Linux for the masses and Linux for the geeks. Why does this necessitate a jump to another OS entirely?
A car is exponentially simpler to use than a computer is. There is no way you'd get public support for laws concerning personal negligence with respect to computers.
You are on a special type of crack if you honestly believe it takes a PHD, Masters, Bachelors or ANY form of formal education to evaluate the pros and cons of a J2EE platform vs..NET espcially considering the majority of.NET anything is still vaporware.

You do not understand the situation. The plaintiffs aren't whiners. We already pay more for Macs, Apple could at least be honest about its products. You can install and use OS X on an early G3, its just that everything isn't supported. DVD Playing that ran under OS 9 DOES NOT RUN on OS X. But Apple said it would. Apple said Mac OS X was the greatest OS in the world. So they can't shoehorn BSD onto a 233Mhz G3 and make it play DVD's? Come on. If OS 9 could do it, if on PC hardware Windows 98 and Linux can do it then why can't OS X?
Who's going to pay for them if its a non-profit open source project? Bandwidth doesn't grow on trees you know.
And slimy adverts? Google has slimy adverts? I thought they only had relevant adverts? Oh well I guess we need another dot.com that will go bust in 6 months or so.
If our Founding Fathers had seen how deadly gun technology would become I doubt they would have put the 2nd Amendment in there in the first place or if they did they would have made it more clearly defined as to what exactly they meant.
