is this book about cracking or about script kiddies? hirillo exposes a veritable who's who of viruses, worms, and trojans: Executor, Cain & Abel,
Satanz Backdoor, ServeU, ShadowPhyre, SubSeven Apocalypse, Voodoo Doll, Portal
of Doom...
You're defending napster because you get free music and ignoring the facts.
What about the people I know at my school with thousands of mp3s, all available on cd?
Most people I know personally download music they would otherwise buy and just burn it to cd.
Stop overlooking the facts to preserve your method of piracy.
Napster isn't sued because it takes away from current profit as much as the possibility exists for it to take huge shares of profit away when broadband gets more and more widespread usage.
Another thing... If I were someone with hundreds of mp3s and asked if it stopped me from buying cds, wouldn't I say that it didn't, to try and prove that Napster et all are good?
Scenario: Half-Life 2 comes out in a pay-per-use model like you describe.
You know what would happen?
Everyone would stick to Half-Life.
Most games in the PC gaming market (95%+) are just updates and revamps of games already out.
No one will lose their individual rights in that type of manner for no major improvement.
I would rather play Quake DM as regular then play Return to Castle Wolfenstein with a pay per play model.
PHBs aren't interested in why not to use Microsoft. That is why they're PHBs. They look for reasons not to use Linux, and that perceived myth is one of them. So if Microsoft has security problems or not isn't an issue since PHBs _want_ to stay with it and can overlook the shortcomings.
Fuck you CmdrTaco for posting such a troll-desirable, flamebait-inspiring *article*.
If only you would gain some sense perhaps Linux would be regarded as more of a serious product rather then as a hacker tool. If the most popular pro-Linux site is so juvenile, what does it say about the GNU/Linux Operating System?

I think Half-Life mod Counter-Strike has more players then Diablo, and I would guess more then Everquest. Perhaps you meant MMORPG?
The post says something about Finns,Swedes, and Tuscans. Are Tuscans Norwegian(related to Scandanavia then) or... ? I don't think I've ever heard that word before.
is going downhill fast IMO.
Malcolm in the Middle, Titus etc might be semi-popular, but they are hell to watch. There shows just get dumber and dumber every new pilot. Ever seen an episode of Malcolm in the Middle? NO PLOT. Horrible. The Lone Gunmen had huge potential and it is sad that it was axed so early, as it could have turned out to be a XFiles/Simpson type show.
Instead Fox continues to go for the 'quick buck' with shows like Cops, Who wants to marry a multimillionaire(or whatever it was called) and the like.
Very sad to see the Lone Gunmen die as it showed promise, I see Fox getting their own problems because of lack of quality in the future.
For example, there is no guarantee that any software you develop on one distribution will run under another distribution. Nor is it guaranteed, or even likely, that an application you develop for one GUI will run under a different GUI, even on the same distribution.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but if I am for example using redhat 7.1, develop an application for GNOME(I'm assuming they meant desktop environments or whatever gnome/kde is called, if this is false then substitute something else) and then run KDE2 and start the application it won't run according to Microsoft? Are these people smoking crack? err yeah i guess so

whats considered close ? I drink a lot of caffeine and would be thankful if you tell me(as for what you've read) what a good time to stop is
However, the belief that MS can change the APIs isn't QUITE true. Keep in mind, many installations are still running Win95, a 6 year old OS, and will be doing so for a number of years. Until companies eliminate the last vestiges of their DOS past, Win95 isn't dying.
You do realize that computers which have hardware fast enough to run current games would NOT be running windows95 in 99% of situations?
The majority of napster users have already left due to filtering. If microsoft and napster setup an agreement, only more people will leave for alternatives such as bearshare and audiogalaxy. Trying to kill mp3 trading by an agreement with napster is like trying to kill linux by buying corel, in my mind.
(I'm not sure what the situation with Corel was, its just to illustrate that people will move to alternatives.)
(The usual attorney disclaimer applies, of course -- that Dan can only answer general law questions, and if you want specific legal advice you must directly engage an attorney yourself.)
When you use 'I' and 'my' 7 times, its probably specific legal advice.
Um, China has always had the idea that China was the Earth as far as its citizens were concerned.
This has been its philosophy(isolationism from all countries) for hundreds of years, and it hasn't changed. It doesn't cut off the Internet so that its citizens do not get angry at China.
Most Chinese citizens probably think they recieve the same Internet access that all nations do.
On a side note, its nice to see the word hacker used correcly: Maryland legislators recognized quickly why exempting Open Source software from the mandated warranties made sense, Webbink says. "How do you impose a warranty on some hacker who's in Romania, written a piece of the code, and given it away for free?"
have you ever heard of NAFTA? sounds like a troll.

Is this slashdot or trash-mozilla.org ?
At least I didn't have to read about how great konquerer supposedly is.
As long as the game contains spyware you'll never connect again?
When a company does something that is so blatantly evil such as spyware, why EVER go back to them?
Just my $.02

Doug Glanville.
"I vowed revenge on the soul of Bingbong," Glanville said, "for the negligent actions of Cylc."
Gotta love it!
As a baseball follower I can tell you I do believe he was motivated, and that it was not simply because it is his job to hit homeruns.
Glanville is not known for power(more for speed) and Schilling is one of the top10-20 pitchers in the league.
Wow.

Its quite hilarious how you can get something on Ask Slashdot, and every single post points out obvious answers.
What has happened to slashdot and its story standards?
does anyone know if this fixes the problems that has occurred with debian packaging of mozilla?
stop pointing out how you use konquerer.
we know.
we don't care.
shut up.

Linus never ceases to amaze.
Perfect quote from Isaac Newton to counter all that Microsoft has been saying.
Great reply
