Username != Username . Username = MSN/username
they want you to use the special client software for windows, and are reluctant to share this
News and Email are unreadable in non-outlook environments as far as i know. this is due to lack of NTLM/SPA support which is required.
this is the stupidest shit i have ever seen. im considering leaving slashdot for stupid fucking retarded posts like this. that, and the fact that according to slashdot "amd great intel bad, linux great microsoft bad" skewing on every single article is extremely frustrated. to have such dumb and ignorant staff to post something of this caliber is an embarrassment.
Some of the FTP sites are still carrying Stormix ISO's, so if you're looking for an easy way to install Debian on a machine, better get them while you can.
Why would you install a dead linux distro ? So that updates would cease to be available along with support ? If you want an easy way to install Debian on a machine, the distribution for that is progeny
The sad part is that I've switched to mostly using Konqueror these days. Less memory. Less crashes. Loads faster. AA fonts look better.
Why must mozilla bashing always take place? It has crashed for me at the most in the last month twice. It does not load faster for me. Im using mozilla.81. What makes me extremely angry is when people(albeit not here) say mozilla is "unstable, buggy, crashes, bloated..." when they have no idea, simply repeat what others say. I've been using mozilla since.6 as my only browser with _no_ problems.
a very easy way to do this would be to simply make a script changing all the extensions of files in a directory from mp3 to.whatever and back again. you could even edit the source of a mp3 player to allow that extension. clear your bash history often, put the files somewhere difficult for a not-you person to find, and you've circumvented mp3 checks if you use a UNIX box
pretty funny site, but you might want to either strengthen your code(i don't that that is the problem) or get a better server.
then again, usually you won't be hit with what i am guessing is the slashdot effect slowing it down
I just learned of this site a few days ago. It seems it is fun for my classmates to take digital pictures of a number of people in my grade, pick the ones that are bad pictures, post them, and then laugh at the response. Heh, small world...
Of course KDE does not have KKK agenda. If you look at kde developers photo gallery you'll see one of the core KDE developers is named Sirtaj Singh Kang and is from India. Obviously, the KKK hates all non-caucasians including Indians, and one of the KDE developers is an Indian.
It has one of the nicest and easiest GUI's I've been played with.

Actually, I was thinking about open-source revealing any potential backdoors, and I think it ain't necessarily so. Remember that the NSA employs a high percentage of the math PhDs in this country.
If I'm not mistaken, a number of professors and PhDs use Linux every day. Do you realize believe someone like Linus or Alan aren't smart enough to work at the NSA if they had tried to get into the agency? And thats just the 2 main kernel coders! I'm _positive_ that many extremely high-level math users use Linux. Its obvious that they could not instill something into the source which could not be read. Hell, I'd assume that binaries could be reverse engineered and figured out.
If that's not enough, there's an article (name, site, and url escape me) where Linus says that audited parts of the NSA port may well be injected into the source tree. I certainly hope this happens. A major pain for NSA Secure Linux could be that a new kernel with support for a driver you need is released, yet doesn't have the security added to it(I believe it can be patched). Adding major security at the hardware level will be a big step for Linux, if only because the default installs might not be so vulnerable when left to a clueless admin.
Databases on Linux? Nah.
Why does QT need to access databases, instead of programs doing it themselves? Multi-monitor Linux boxes? Nah.
X does multi-monitor. Tell me why QT needs to 64 bit Linux platforms? Nah.
No, you're definitely right on this one. Add support for.0001 % of the linux population so they can run X a little quicker. Good usage of time Non-english speaking Linux users? Nah.
I can see this more then the others, but I still believe it can be implemented outside of QT.

would you care to tell me how to NOT have gdm start at boot?
i like ximian gnome when in X. i would like to choose when to use X though. I do not use ximian because of this(DEBs set gdm..)

a deb consists of package database information (to store that it has been installed), possibly documentation, and a binary.
yes, i forget source archives with a wrapper = packaging system.
apt-get install task-kde
having a package system has its benefits.

Do you believe Python is a 'do-it-all' language currently?
If not do you believe it will ever get to that point in which it can be used for all purposes?
What needs to be improved for it to be a 'do-it-all' language?
OMG I found a post on a message board!! I think all of slashdot should be told!!
talk about bad reporting..
The economist is refusing my connection. I think it has been slashdotted, as of 1:20 PM EST. I guess I'll just have to go and buy it.
