    chapter 0 of the"pen testers handbook" states (among other things)
    Make sure you have a Written document that is signed by an authoritative person (or persons) detailing that you have permission to perform any "hacking" operations (detailing what and on what is permitted)
    this is known as your "GET OUT OF JAIL FREE CARD"

    (i mean really evey book ive seen (includes hacking for dummies!!) has this info mostly with the GOOJFC called exactly that.)

    A Lesser person would be questioning your parentage , current IQ and Smoking habits but

    lets see
    1 the RPM Format (hint its called in full RedHat Package Manager)
    2 large sections of kernel code (hint grep /usr/src/linux for "redhat")
    3 employment for Allan Cox (one of the senior kernel people (in fact i think the 2.4 tree has a AC branch))
    4 large chunks of money

    Your BOFHs will be Burbon Chugging Folks that might 1 prevent "death march" 2 will have the stored knowledge to reign the PFYs in

    to much Bawls and .bomb will be best case
    to much burbon and you will spend to much budget on rehab

    the main function of Management is to
    1 provide resources
    2 shield the team from the rest of the chain of command
    3 lead

    the best a managers will have their say and then stay out of the way of the folks doing the work (assumes the manager does not have production work to do)

    and heres the funny part
    if you add the PLF sources to your Mandriva source list (required to play dvds) then you will also have some very interesting programs also availible to you.

    If they had just given us (*nix folks) a black code chunk to do the decryption then DeCSS would not have been needed (did you know that there is a public court filing that has the complete code to DeCSS?).

    I would think that most distros have a "grayish" source for the needed bits

    i think that The way to solve this problem is to teach children a "defensive dance" that includes the use of a Bo or similar stick

    1 this would cut down on crimes against children
    2 part of this would be PROPER USE OF FORCE

    as it so happens ive heard that the servers were in fact labeled (it makes sense even if they didn't have "example.com" on the label they should be able to ask to see the log that says that Rack 0016 blade number 32 is "example.com" so yes a bulk yank of the servers was outside the warrant.

    The THERMITE method (to be used only if loosing the data is better than having it comprimised) the way it works is you stack a thermite blanket on top of the drive and then you rig a switch.....

    and i think three things would prevent a lot of crashes

    1 have your program check the the platform is sane before it installs.
    (min os version enough memory enough drive space yadda)

    2 clean any input more than MAFIA money is (if a form will choke if more than 30 characters are input in a field then drop from character 29)

    3 race tickets anybody???

    i would suggest minimum different zip codes different time zones would be best

    bad thing for MS XGL seems to be required for a distro to be one of the "Cool Kids"
    (though
    a Some distros are playing "CandyMan"
    b Some distros are going for the "crackers" approach
    )

    This is a bad thing since Vista seems to be slotting a June? 07 so XGL and friends will be "old news" by then
