    Due to the federal guidelines/regs (google for HIPAA) is is a felony to have your medical records on a unsecured computer. chances are any NET transmit of medical records will be via a ssl tunnel or otherwise secured for transit. Yes this bit does only apply to USA persons but i would think "YOUR" regs should be better

    okay try this on for size you as the FNG hand the newbie a copy of "The Open CD" and have them go to it (hmm that fixes the whole I NEED MSOFFICE thing to) besides im sure AOL10.0 will have a copy of MSIE 7.0 on it (the current 9.0 versions have 6.0)

    try this on for size 1 many of the base programs are written by geeks that don't have the need to release by X Date 2 F/OSS code tends to be more secure 3 because the source is availible it can be audited (and compiled from audited source) 4 the linux community talks

    No i would call it stupidity and bad engineering 1 ~90 percent of the rf from the cell phone is going out the antenna (remember SWR type stuff) 2 handsfree kits should work with any phone made in the last 3 years (standard 2.5 mm stereo plug) 3 therefore you should design the phone: 1 with a handsfree jack and earpiece 2 so that the antenna gets pointed away from the head 4 profit!!

    And on a related note the difference between the first amendment and its common summary The way it is worded it is ment to mean seperation of the state from the church (ie no state religion) but does not require removal of religion from state things (like prayer in public schools). A State school should have areas set aside for religious rites but should allow baptist , wiccan and satanist rites as required (all three parties clean up afterwards)

    try this on for size imagine a country that had massive walls locking the population inside (happy rulers) now add in a group of folks on the outside( but also on the inside) that had drills , pickaxes jackhammers , semtex ect (not happy rulers) The threat is to the "ruling class" not the people (yes this land is called MicroSoft Windows)

    ideally when running a program Foo if you ran it as Foo -conf it would dump a default and complete .fooconf file to the current users home. (bonus points if the file is corrected for the system level version) and during normal runs ~/.fooconf is the override file (of course actually writing the file out completely somewhere sane would help)

    yes indeed the actual runtime is a hacked copy of K-Melon (with most of the chrome removed)

    im not sure (and can't check) but i think either there was some sort of distibution problem or CA is just doing a skip for this version ------- NEW FEATURE FOR THIS VERSION the installer disctree can be modified and the cd rebuilt to add/drop programs http://www.theopencd.net/preview/DOWNLOADS to grab the source for distree (have a working php install ready)

    the funny thing is i now have a virgin mobile K9 (cost US$39.99) and i am planning on keeping it up even though i have a sanyo 4900 as my primary phone worst case i paid 39.99 for a good flashlight and it is a very basic small phone

    as regards to NG being used this would be a built-in "fine" for using Windows and besides you are aware of the principle of "Gnu-Geek Baiting" and you could also if you have a large enough drive to use direct the DD command to a USB/FireWire portable drive

    I have to go through Activation Hell every time I reformat one. Which is rather often, because of the fact that they use Windows. ----------- it sounds to me like they owe you a copy of Norton Ghost. The drill would be 1 setup (and activate) a baseline 2 setup Norton Ghost (with the tickets for both machines) 3 create the image disc for both machines 4 wait for Windows to fall over 5 reimage the machine' 6 loop 4 and 5 as needed
