    so let me clear something up for you

    1 some folks are actually qualified to teach their children
    2 and most of them have a linkup with some sort of Formal School
    3 when you are not trying to deal with 35 other kids (3/4 of which are physically/mentally "damaged") you can actually TEACH
    4 PoliCritters that try to tamper with the (USA) RIGHT to homeschool very quickly find themselves speaking to Mr Smith http://www.hslda.org/speakers/speaker.asp?s=1

    and i think some Prep type Homework for the summer break would do nicely

    actually having the tests and such be done via the Online part is a great convenience for a Teacher sinc eall he has to do is admin the stuff (unlock homework/quizes and such) and then dump the scores into the grade book.

    not addressing my point im not saying that connections should be totally unlimited for 19.95 a month im saying that they should sell connections/deploy towers that can provide a reasonable fraction of service THAT THEY ADVERTISED.

    If you sell a connection that 50MB and have 20 customers then you should be able to provide that speed for at least 60% of your customers at any given time (so you should have 600MB available at the tower)

    Also preloading your phones with 2 dozen "aps" that are mostly ad servers (and are running 24/7/52) is dirty pool.

    For Cell Phones (aka Mobile Computing Devices) by Federal Law no "built-in" ap should have any kind of "ad server" component and any Provider Sent Data Packet should not count against any kind of data cap.

    So in short either sell us what the real available speed is or don't throttle (past what we paid for).

    a Challenge for the CXOs of the Telcos Put Your Bonuses Up or Stop Spouting about how you are Customer Service Focused.

    (i wonder how many new towers can be funded by say Verizons CxOs bonuses for the last couple years??)

    1 Google is known for Search
    2 they have massive datafarms (note the Plural there)
    3 Like Everybody can use this

    the big problem is the bit of over subscribing your users. If you have say enough bandwidth to handle 1000 GB in connections then you should not sell 10,000 GB worth of connections and then pull all sorts of tricks to limit folks below what THEY HAVE PAID FOR.

    What you should do is limit your connections to say 1500 GB (since you will have folks that do not use the full slot they have purchased) and have some way of asking your High Bandwidth Customers to back down a bit during "prime time" (maybe on your support website??).

    You don't have FoodLion selling a dozen eggs and then grabbing 5 eggs at checkout do you??

    For 98% of the viewing audience having a house with High Power Electrified Fencing and a pack of Tibetan Mastifs/Wolves in the yard surrounding a Stone House with Blast Doors with internal sector doors would be way to much effort BUT for that 2% it might not be enough.

    questions to be asked for FDE

    1 Is it better to LOSE the data than have it compromised?
    2 How secure are your backups?
    3 Are YOU SURE to COURT OF LAW levels your backups are secure and reliable??
    4 Are the keys kept safe??
    5 Can your staff be "DD" hacked?? (mostly applies to Male Staff members but similar hacks will apply otherwise)
    6 How good is your FDE solution?? (has it been HACKED YET??)
    7 is there a second key that can be used to decrypt?? (or a Master key)

    im sure there are other questions but that should be the top 7 questions

    an easy fix for this for ArenaNet

    1 dupe the exploited weapons and make some sort of small edit to the copies (just enough so you can tell a pre exploit copy from a post exploit copy)

    2 in a couple weeks create some sort of Uber Creature (Like the Dresden Files He Who Walks Behind or a Doom II Cyberdemon) and have this creature spawn and stalk anyone using a pre exploit version.

    3 sit back and watch the problem solve itself

    Its a set of things that would be "proof"
    1 the "suspects" own cell Phone
    2 was in the right location
    3 was IN USE
    4 by somebody that sounds a whole lot like the "suspect"

    otherwise yah its weak

    Now DNA evidence should be considered on HOW LARGE a sample was found.

    a flake of skin barely big enough to get a read on= weak
    3 pints of Blood, chunk of ear./finger or a part of a tooth = Now we are talking

    yeah this was dodgy.

    try this:

    I have here a %random x86 computer% and i need to get Windows installed on it. How would you go about doing it??

    1 If the first question is not in the form of "Are you sure that the box CAN have Windows installed?" *end the interview
    2 next question should be "Where are my install discs/driver discs and KeyCards"? (note a great WinGeek will have install discs and some sort of Driver Package)
    3 Your WinGeek should also have some way of installing a CURRENTLY PATCHED copy of Windows (slipstreamed install media is best) without using a network connection
    4 Also they should be familiar with the automated ways of installing the CURRENT 3rd party runtimes (flash java ect)

    *note if your WinGeek has a bootable disc with a Windows Prep Tool this is also a Pass

    Im surprised that nobody has mentioned that Edward Yourdon has written a book or two about what happens when projects go BAD.

    In the situation given the best thing to do is send in a Forensics Team to extract what bits can be transplanted and then START OVER.

    easy way to do this

    1 filter for Yahoo accounts
    2 put "land mine" phrases in your craigslist postings and set filters for those (use maybe 3 different phrases)

    so if you sell say Pottery use "Ming Dynasty" "Bull teacup set" and "Dragon Motif" as "landmines"

    set your filter for @yahoo.com with "Ming Dynasty" or "Bull teacup set" or "Dragon Motif" to be sent to Spam

    in your text warn folks to NOT copy the text of your ad when they reply

    or an "easy" way to stop this is to make it a Personal Felony to operate a Financial Service know to be used by any entity for an illegal purpose or to provide services for same. So if you process the CC cards for a Spammer YOU YOURSELF go to Jail and Your Bank can have its staff GO TO JAIL if it continues to provide for you.

    So if banks start getting put in the clink this kind of thing gets very expensive very fast (and as an added bonus banks could arrange to get a cut of "seized funds").

    i would put that the first couple picoseconds of Time are beyond what Science can state as Truth and also show me an entire line of Fossils that show how a Proto-Quadraped became say a Horse (with complete skeletons at each stage).

    oh and how is it that we are finding Fossils in ground that should have been washed off the Land surface a half million years ago??

    anything that is supposed to be The One True Way rapidly finds out how wide the "edge cases" are.

    In pair programming this is found in trying to put Orange/Green Irish programmers in a "pair" (or Jew/Muslim) and also is BAD for programmers that are best setup in a "den" and then have Food/Drink shoved into a slot in the door.
