    Accelerated X 5, Linux 2.4.1 (as of yesterday).
    Gnome 1.2.1 um, gkrellm, etc...

    Its not bad, but it gets done what I need it to.

    Actually yes. I unplugged the line from my DirectTV dish a while back. They won't be able to apply anything without it. So THEY are fucked.

    1. Macintosh Is made for graphics.
    2. Adobe makes sucky products.
    3. Mac's processor is designed for
    3d, audio, etc... It can do it better than a PC.
    4. Sun's Sparc2 workstation is desinged for the same.
    5. I use gimp, and it is by FAR a better renderer than photoshop and takes 1/2 the time to render than the bloated adobe products.

    I don't give a damn what OS you use to make graphics. They all perform the same. Its X11 that does the REAL work behind the picture. Sun.com. Looks to me like they used Gimp.

    If it is anything like the IBM restore cds, they should contain the OS in 'zip' files. Use a Unix based machine an unzip them (prevents that zip password crap). Then just burn the unziped files to cd. Its rather easy once you find them.

    Turn on cookies. Look through and del all the NON-slashdot cookies. Mark the cookies file not writeable by anyone.
    It won't save ANY cookies, it will just let your browser read the slashdot cookie.

    Also remember that Wintel PCs came with cheap 'winmodems'. If you want to load an OS that is non-M$, you would have to go buy a REAL modem.
    I don't see why PCs now don't come with equipment
    set for DSL. Its probably the deals with MSN, and A0Hell that prevent the PC manufactures from doing this.

    Compaq is a good example. You see those radio shack commercials with them advertising MSN.
    Gateway advertises A0Hell.

    This is why the end user is getting cheap modem hardware in their machines that they buy.

    A lot of people say that speed kills. True. It does. But lets also consider another factor that kills, other than drinking. Slow drivers. You may not think about it but really... You are going down the road at around 55-58 in a 55 zone. There is some idiot in front of you going 35-40, and there is only one lane, and you can't pass him without having a head-on with another car. People get real aggitated at this. I guess you could call it 'natural road-rage'. You get pissed, you try to pass him, BOOM, a Mac Truck takes you through its radiator.

    Don't troll me. This is a serious matter. Ive almost had a wreck because of these damn road hogs. Its most annoying really. There should be a minumum speed, just as there is a maximum. I know this to be true in Florida in some places, and have seen it a few times where I live. Ca. Does anyone else have minimum speed limit signs?

    Simply said: To monopolise you. Most of the 'Bells' do that. AT&T was a monopoly at one time, untill the government stepped in on it. I don't bother with it because I havn't had any problems with cable.
