I get really disapointed when people critique the divx codac saying it looks crapy but that is probably because you have been download lowres interlaced, 550b/s crap off of p2p networks or other sorces that don't have any level of quality contorl, I think the divx codac has a lot of potential and that can be seen with what people are able to achive with it.
I think developments on the xbox or ps2 will take place that will allow for this sort of functionality, (it almost happend on the dreamcast the proccessor just was not fast enugh to handle divx rips) and because both companies tend to take a loss on each consle, and will soon or already have ethernet built in, it will make for a good convergence device, once it gets hacked and opend up. could watch divx movies with better quality video out, for some reason divx movies look identical to the DVD on the monitor but not so identical to the DVD when played on TV out compared to DVD played on DVD player.
maybe slashdot should mirror the pages, or something as they servers seem to crash>

yea freenet could emplement a internet gateway type proxy then it could be closer to true anonimization, cuz most peole seem to be sujesting that you set up your own proxy but that is still tied to one praticular very traceable and identifiable ip

I don't know about anyone else but I am getting tired of the comments without reason, don't get the wrong Idea I once ran windows 3.1, 95, and even the horrid "me"/"98" and faced the most odd program crashes (well computer crashes) that made acid trips seem boring. . But really I feel that people are misinformed and uneducated when they say windows crashes all the time now days, because it simply does not crash much at all with windows 2k and XP . . it is pretty dam stable. And when people say.. "blab blab bla>> blue screen of death. . bla bla bloated software buggy. . etc .." I just feel out of touch with that relativity. Microsoft should be criticized for releasing such shity software in the past but now can only be criticized because of their anticompetitive practices. Let me know if you agree with this. A 128kbs mp3 does not sound too bad if you put it though some good sound filters specificly for your speakers.. i use a dfx plugin does wonders for my system,

its called tivo.. if you want it that bad pay the price I guess., or you could just hit up IRC and hotline, and with a little bit less then "$400, $19 a month" effort you could download every episode ever released.
2003 ibm brings into operation petaflop bluegene computer for a cost of 100 million... that would bring the price of a quality 10 terafloop machine into the 1 mill range.. i think that makes for some some interesting posibilitys...
It is so silly to say this. I am very dispointed in people that consistantly say "look" there is no point.> the system is pushing more pologons then there are pixles on the screen this is stupid>> concentrate on gameplay yada yada>> I would say that games are no where near photo realism or even come close. Even once you have the ultimate gaming machine that can produce real life like objects and charachters you still have to make thouse charachters interact in a intelegent way ie AI can always use more proccesing to the point where the game creats itselfe by maping your entire nural network and acuratly predicting and creating the game that would be the most enjoyable for you possible ever... probably a few years off and a bit silly to talk about today, but just don't say silly things like 4k ram is all anyone will ever need.. or "todays generation of GPU's is all we'll ever need for video gaming"
whatever. I don't see how people would want to pay for what they can get for free. like your firend says I go though open nap I don't pay anything how is your service better then mine > and who wants money to go to the RIAA anyway I like the idea of artist actualy owning the music they created
