Well, until the AIG bank meltdown came along (my office was a former PWC accounting building) and budget cuts removed the machine yet left all the packets. Your analogy is like comparing Oxycontin and back-ally black tar heroin...although Oxycontin is a far more dangerous drug than Adderall will ever be.

If he wasn't also in the Koch's pocket, he would be the perfect candidate. He's still far better than Hillary "what email server?" Clinton...why the Republicans won't actually nominate him I'll never understand. He would pull conservative Democrats to him, and is a positive force for both Libertarians and Progressive Republicans (in the vein of Eisenhower). He's spoken out against the NSA, against drones, He's an actual MD. He voted against extending the PATRIOT Act.
My main issue is he's too anti-government, and wants to cut into the Department of Education, and is way too "pro-life". But weighing these against his positives, we'll not find another candidate who scores better. Maybe you should watch the TV show Cops more often then, because I've seen several times how the cops will purposly esculate a situtation into an arrest. A few times it's obvious the perp had some physical / mental disability, and the cops would keep saying things to upset them. The cops were even forwarned by others that the person has issues, then watch them use those issues to get the perp to react just so they could arrest them...even to the point where another officer would pull the first cop aside and have to reason with them to calm down. This seems to be about 10% of the arrests on the show, so I'm assuming in real life without the cameras this happens even more often.

I saw a documentary awhile back, they had floated a probe down there. So much radiation the cameras kept showing bright spots all over, then the probe died after 10 minutes. This plant will be an environmental disaster for thousands of years.
Yet their often not accountable. A corporation can cause hundreds or thousands of deaths, but gets to go on living. They might get some fine, but no real person who kills a bunch of people, even accidentally, will just get a fine. A corp can poison entire towns, hell even entire ecosystems, and after a year it's right back to business as usual. Where is the corporate jail? Corporate death sentence? How many corps have been dissolved even after it's shown they wantonly and willingly dumped some toxins into a stream / river and killed people? How many mortgage / loan agents who fraudulently signed modifications got into any trouble?
The corps get all the "rights" of a person with none of the drawbacks. Kill people, get fines, write fines off on taxes, transfer all profits out of the country, PROFIT.

When I went to work for AT&T as a CSR, I had to pass a seven year background check that also included driving records. I don't know what cellular provider you go through that has that has a higher level of checks than that, but AT&T just does a credit check on customers as opposed to an actual background check.
Yet these people were not actual AT&T employees but contractors, so no telling what type of checks are used. This isn't the first time AT&T has had this problem...in 2010 the FBI arrested four people hacking AT&T's PBX systems for Jemaah Islamiyah, who also performed the Mumbai attacks.
