Nerds of the world unite! As long as we allow the lawyers (aristocrats) of the world to exploit us, they will continue to rape us for every penny they can. However, the time has come for every Nerd of the world to go on strike. Just think how long it will take for the entire infratructer to fail? It won't take long for the masses to rally and demand action if they can't get email, check their porn, buy gas, use electricity, make phone calls, or any of the other 1000 mundane tasks they take for granted but would seize to function without our work. It shouldn't take more than two weeks for them to come crawling on their knees and give into any demand if the striking population is large enough.

Now, we can only dream of a world without DMCAs and shrink wrap EULs. But tomorrow it could be a reality.

It's not perfect. And yeah, that's a major mess up. And with the volume of dynamic data out there, it's rather hard to set up a program or database that is 100% accurate.

Not being 100% accurate is when they block something like www.4skin.com thinking it is a porn sight and not a dermatologist's site. (I know a doctor with the license plate 4-skin. He thinks its funny since he is a skin doctor. He's for skin. *smile*)

Blocking something like Yahoo.com is intentional. It gets more hits than most any other site on the web. How can that be a mistake? However, if it is just a mistake, why don't they open up their blocking list so the library can delete non-objectionable sites from the blocked list? The reason is simple. They don't want you knowing what you can't see.

  7. Contract vs Perm Employees on Microsoft Loses Temp Appeal · · Score: 2

I don't understand the hostility people seem to have with contract vs permanent status.

From what I have seen over the past six years there is little difference. In the Engineering construction field, they can use over 50% contractors depending on the size of the job. As the job winds down, they will start letting go of people. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to whom they let go. They let go of some contractors and lay off employees depending on the tasks they were doing. Therefore in this industry, stability doesn't seem to be an issue. Noone has stability.

However, pay is different. Contract employees make 30 to 50% more per hour. However they don't get benefits. It's your choice. Money or benefits. Money or paid vacations and holidays. Money or health insurance.

With the current corporate attitude of maximizing today's bottom line at the expense of tomorrows, I don't think anyone should believe they have more stability as a permanent employee. Companies are not inclined to pay you for a month of down time to ride out a lull in the market. Most seem to think they can hire a replacement person in a month or two with no effect on the bottom line.

Everyone needs to make the decision that is correct for them. However, they should not look to the world of yesteryear for guidance today. Company's don't care about us. The only care about money. Once you realize that, and can start not caring about the company but rather for yourself, and then you start to have the advantage.

AC has better AI to a point. It will make strange attacks at times or ignor units at times. I think AC is a better game save I hate the end game. It allows for units that can attack anywhere in the world. Thus, the first person to get these units win. They can attack you where you arn't and destroy your industial base. I also think the worms can be too powerful of a unit. They win 2/3's of all attacks regardless of the units strength. It makes taking out cities rather easy in the end game. If you don't mind the endgame, get AC. The ideas of politically controled zones and elections I found to be excellent.

The only reason people are bringing these lawsuits about are that you can sue anyone for anything and they are attempting to put the gun manufacturers out of busines because they haven't been able to convince enough people do outlaw the products. Rather sad if you ask me. I think when these people lose thier lawsuits, they should be 100% responsible for the leagle fees of the manufactures.
