Most wives don't know. Yours probably does because you talk to her about gaming consoles at dinner time but I can assure you 95% of wives don't know. So that argument is in the toilet.
Speaking of privacy, I'm sure all those Sony users who had their credit card information on their accounts stolen are pleased their data was well protected.
That's funny considering the same wives you speak of use cell phones which in my opinion are a far bigger breach of privacy than a game console. I say lets take out those cameras and microphones out of our phones. Ohhh, and what about our GPS coordinates that you can't disable because the providers have control? And now people are worried about the camera in their living room that is designed to improve/change you gaming experience, not spy. Sounds like ill informed decision making.
Well, the PS3 was inferior to the XBox 360. Will PS4 actually beat Xbox this time? 1. Graphics in most games were rated to be better on XBox 360 as per GameSpot 2. Many of the big titles were ports from XBox 360 to PS3 which left many customers unhappy. Read the forums you will see. 3. There is a larger population for Xbox 360 owners (more units sold), if tendency remains users will stick to the platform they know.
Question is here, other than the.5% of techies here that just don't like MS, who's going to care about any bad press MS had if they adjusted to their customer feedback? Based on my surroundings, the PS3 users I know are going for the XBox one. The only reason they originally purchased a PS3 was because of the free online gaming access which my understanding is gone on the PS4.
I look at Intel's decision to not encourage overclocking as a move to keep their products stables. The minute you take hardware outside it's originally tested context you risk instability. If you know how processors are tested then you understand that 2 processors side by side have completely different capabilities. One may be overclockable by 10% while the other by 20%. Regardless, IMHO overclocking if for hobbiest, not business. It serves no real purpose in the business world and that is why Intel is the #1 choice for Corporations and Enterprises.
Your lack of thinking is impressive to say the least.
3D movies are rendered. Now, how do you take a live picture and make it 3D. That is what this technology does. Take the same tech and move it to holograms. MS won't develop the hologram technology, they will as usual provide software and services for the hardware.
And saying MS isn't innovative is silly. You don't know half the stuff they're working on. It's like saying Ford isn't innovating because there are no flying cars... It's not because you don't see an immediate impact in your life that there isn't innovation.
Yeah, because I'm sure the Russian version of these companies is going to be so much more ethical. At least we are talking about a government here, not an individual marketing the data back for money.
People who are truly concerned about the privacy of their communication don't leave 100% of the control in other companies hands.
You're not seeing the real objective. Think of movies and holograms. Very cool stuff. That's the objective for this technology. To some people there is value to this technology.
I disagree with MS missing out on the mobile/cloud. They had the cloud for a while now. Before Apple at the least. MS didn't capitalise on the mobile gold rush but they aren't out yet. They are taking a sliver of the market every month. Sales are increasing and eventually word of success of failure will pass on and that will be the deciding factor.
Let them fail in school. If they can't control their addictions to Facebook, what kind of focus will they have once they hit the job market. Like a friend of mine said the other day: "Darwinism is dead". If they are too dumb to realize what they are doing, let them fail. Self elimination.
That's not really what he said. As a decision maker a corporation has many options to pick from. Open Source is a great option when looking at budget but there is no support infrastructure outside the community. If you hit road blocks who's accountable to help you? Will anybody really care about your problem? That's the issue with Open Source software.
The story is simple, Cloud is a buzz word. I know IT Managers that aren't technical enough to make the right decision and a buzz word can save their jobs, maybe get them a bigger bonus so they'll push the current buzz as much as they can. Cloud existed before Cloud was popular. It was in the form of web and email servers. Why host your own when someone has more expertise than you to do it.
You're just talking out of your ass with no foundation for your arguments.
There is a huge client base for games that require actual body movement. Kinect is known (not just presumed) to have the best movement detection framework in the gaming industry.
MS Dev has changed significantly. IT was different in those years. Even Unix was a different ball game. I tend to prefer MS in work stations and small business servers. I'll be the first one to recommend linux based storage equipment because it's just better and the people developing on the hardware are more knowledgeable on the matter. I think people always take products out of context and don't look at pros/cons. Framework has made deving on MS very simple and I can push applications for the company's needs much quicker which equals less $$ and more productivity. In addition Framework is updated as computer get their Windows updates which keeps the applications (assuming properly developed) safe and optimized for new hardware.
We have legacy issues here too. Nothing changes. Those that can will move to Windows 7 or 8 and those that can't will run VM or leave the machines off the internet like we do here.
I see lots of users buying the Z10 and I know a few going for the Q10. Lots of people on this site thinking they see all and know all predicted the fall of RIM. Large companies with huge talent on their side don't disappear overnight. Especially not in a vast market like this one.
Your comments are not based on facts unless your only speak of the PC market.
Numbers speak for themselves. Their SMB and SME products have seen a huge increase in sales. The game console is a continuing to grow and XBox one isn't suppose to be DRM so I don't believe they've lost anything yet. Up until the release of Windows 8 Mobile they didn't have much of a shot at the mobile market but that is changing. Their numbers in the mobile market are growing monthly. They also have the office suite at the consumer level that is doing well. There are many other branches such as MS Dynamics that I don't believe are included in their SMB/SME revenues.
Where they hurt is in the PC market because the consumers have changed what types of devices they buy, not because they wanted to move away from MS.
Microsoft is a large company that is deeply rooted in many businesses. Saying that it isn't relevant is saying that there is a replacement for their solutions. At the moment I don't see a replacement for businesses like the one I work for. So until someone comes up with a nicely packages solution for SMB/SME, MS will be relevant.
No, there was a ban on hard balls. Don't know what you link refers to but I know a teacher at that school and they confirmed it was true.

Lol!!!
Reminds me of the banning of balls at a school in Ontario because a parent got knocked out by a ball to the head.
Shit happens. We can't stop the world from spinning because of one incident.

This article explains exactly how Kinect is designed to be safe and private:

Your brain is stuck on the kickstand part? You couldn't read more than 10 words?
Now I know why you're lost at C:>

That's just not happening on PC. If you think supporting games on Windows is a nightmare, can't wait to see the whore story that is games on Linux.
The way I see it, MS could write everybody on /. a $10 000 cheque and slashdotters would turn around and say it wasn't done right. Just cause it's MS.

Obviously not a good use for kinect. None of the motion devices can handle this. Can't blame MS for having a game company miss use their equipment.

Wow, your drastic. Guess if your Ford car engine fails this means you'll go get a Kia? Weird reasoning.
BTW, when is the end of support for Linux? Right, it's never since there isn't any.
Have you ever gone into remote locations such as mines in Brazil and Africa. You don't get internet and if you do it's slow as a 14k modem.
