Yeah, because it's so convenient for most users to install software, add devices and keep their Linux OS updated (Sarcasm). Lets not talk about replacing Apple and MS in SMBs because I'll barry you alive.

Linux is for geeks with time to waste at home and for serious enterprise level hosting of all kinds. It's also for small devices that are very prescriptive. Linux doesn't belong in places where people aren't technical experts. The cost of the OS is nothing compared to the hourly rate of a Linux expert that you don't have on staff.

It's not that simple. The company is still alive and selling/developping new products. You can't just stop and start over. What you want is a cleanup.

I have a feeling this article doesn't include enough information to understand the actual issue at hand. Getting 3000 applications doesn't mean they actually qualify. Then again, we don't know what qualifies a person for early retirement at Sharp. If there's a union is gets even trickier.

Now I play intensive sports 3 times a week and I'm 220 and it's a good weight for me. If I don't control my food intake (quantity and quality) then I go up to 235 fairly quickly.

On the other hand, let Google get in there so I can finally have a reasonnable cell phone bill.

    Just my 2 cents.

Linux is a great OS when deployed on cookie cutter devices. This is the reason it succeeds here and never did in the mainstream PC market.

Now to assume that it will own the market forever is naive and most probably incorrect. May I bring up the fact that Apple was nowhere to be seen until they got their iPod series of products out? MS is showing great interest in breaking into the market and it looks like Samsung wants to help them. If you recall, Black Berry too was at top of the mobile device world a couple of years ago.

You did absolutelly no research before you made these statements. IE had bad moments but remains a competitor. From a developpers standpoint all browsers have their flaws. People who bitch about IE don't use IE, people who bitch about Firefox or Chrome don't use them. Simple as that. People will always bitch that they have to make changes to their work to accomodate a difference in another browser they don't use.

I too hate the 1000 notifications that come from IE when you first run it. Unfortunately the company does that because it's the only way to keep you informed that you don't know what your doing and that if you screw up, well you can't say we didn't tell you.

FYI, I use all 4 browsers because our customers use them all. Firefox, IE, Chrome and Safari (Damn I hate Safari) :)
