Um no? Your CPU isn't a Heater, it's just a byproduct and since 100% of the energy going into your CPU isn't being put off as energy, it's nowhere near 100% efficient.
If the university's IT organization proper is doing it, that's one thing, and I could see people being uncomfortable with the motivations. But grad students? I don't see any problem with that at all.
Say what!?
I'd rather have the 'Official' Representatives of the service performing the study not some J Random User, since you know there has to be some oversight if the School Officals are doing it.
I could not believe how awful this film was. The story has almost nothing to do with previous versions of Hitchhiker's Guide and just rambles all over the place, but not in any humorous or interesting or entertaining or enjoyable way.
All the changes from the book and TV show and radio play seem to have been made for no reason and not only do they not add anything, they actually make it worse.
NONE of the books/radio shows agree with each other, so why should you expect the movie to?
"We could capture your name, your Social Security number or any other information that you willingly pass to a Web site," acknowledged Matt Belkin, who serves as vice president of best practices for Utah marketing giant Omniture, which tracks the online activities of people using Intuit's TurboTax.
But he said Omniture doesn't do this. The reason, he said, is that client companies don't authorize Omniture to do it.
Ah yes, nothing like an austrailian news organization (the writer not ZDNet), quoting a survey by some webhost (alot of people have probably never heard of) of 2500 people to tell what the 292 million Americans favor.
Why not? It's an interesting problem, at least to us. These days, we're pointy-haired bosses with little time to code. We thought this would be a fun project that would also give a little back to the community.
Oh you mean like MirrorDot/GoogleCache/CoralCache/etc? How about coding something new instead of reinventing the wheel and being a karma-whore in the process?
I just can't relabel it as FrepSearchIncredible, withhold the source code, and pretend it's my own unique product.
And I think Maui X-Stream is doing all of these things
Because AMD wont bend-over backwards to cater to Dell's insane demands?
It's an even exchange and 100% efficient. .

But the story meets the criteria of slashdot stories
A) Involves Microsoft
B) Shows Microsoft did something wrong
I've actually gotten a reply from him one time regarding a mistake in a story so although it may be rare, it does happen.

Wow except that microsoft.com links to them, no wait . . they must of hacked microsofts site to point to them.
Garbage In, Garbage Out
Just because this deals with spreadsheets makes it news? I think people have had this problem since people started making inventories.

Yes they *can*, but do they? *no*

Since Duke doesn't want them, I'll gladly take them off their hands.
Yes, we all hate the *AA's but they were breaking the law, and bastardizing a research network.
RHEEEEE mod_rewrite kicks my ass again, should be fixed now.
From the NetworkMirror.com FAQ:
