Maybe, but if I wanted to use a gamepad I'd be using a console in the first place.
I won't cut my car in half just because someone only paved a road barely wide enough so a motorcycle can use it, leaving only a small empty strip on each side "just in case".
At least it's slowed down because many games are developed with consoles in mind, tacking on a port to the PC in the last minute and therefore coming nowhere near what a PC game could look like. Shitty controls on the PC (e.g., Dead Space, Prototype, Star Wars: Force Unleashed) are just an extra bonus because someone simply tried to map the gamepad buttons to the keyboard.
They'll intercept transmissions of our reality TV shows, decide that something like that can't be allowed to pollute the universe and then proceed to nuke the whole planet from orbit.
Something like this will simply lead to the creation of more technologies like that, making it harder for law enforcement agencies to catch real criminals.
It's only a matter of time. The real people behind this are currently trying to shove the same stuff down the population of other countries (e.g., EU nations like Spain and Germany). After that it won't be long until there's something like the agreement to share SWIFT transaction data.
Child pornography and terrorism are the standard pretenses. At least the Russians are trying to do something different. They're citing websites about illegal drugs as their reason to pull off shit like that.
I'd love to see DRM schemes that turn computers with illegitimate copies of software into smoking heaps.
If it's done by the same people who did WGA we're in for a ton of fun. Last time I checked WGA was said to have a rate of false positives somewhere in the neighborhood of 97.7%.
In short -- Using a free/open BIOS or OS is more secure by nature, for the same reason that my car is more reliable with an unlocked hood than if it is only serviceable by the dealer (I can check and change my own oil, esp. on long drives away from any dealer approved maintenance facility).
In theory, but it depends on the frequency of those updates/bugfixes. Just take a look at all those Android devices. They may be Linux-based, but they rarely (if ever) receive security updates from upstream, leaving them vulnerable to weaknesses which have been known to the masses for quite some time.
Drill a hole into the casing, fill the damn thing with butyric acid and seal it again. Should provide for some fun once those goons try to find out what's wrong with their toy.
Why don't they just shove a tracker up everyone's ass and call it a day?

True, one is generating a shitload of money for lawyers and the other ... oh wait! ;)
And car dealerships don't sell cars either .... oh wait
Why should Sony be the only company to employ dirty tactics like that?
We're talking about MSIE.
To run this thing the browser probably needs to comply with some standard.
Just had a scary thought:
Linux running inside Internet Explorer on a Windows Vista system! *shudder*

Take what's said by the government, invert it and you probably get something that's rather close to the truth.

Tor, Freenet, i2p, take your pick.

The company ran out of electrolytes. You'll just have to drink from the toilet.

90% of their users just behave like they're still 12.
Do a version for sharks and you'll start a quantum leap in laser warfare.
Where's the "nuke the site from orbit" button?

Not exactly. Most people need to get bored past a certain level to kill some time doing stuff like that.
