    A lot more people work on an OS level than the BIOS level, meaning that a lot more people will be aware of possible ways to exploit weaknesses in the used Linux kernel and its related packages.

    Sony-Ericsson is almost completely unrelated to SCEI.

    First the music section installs rootkits on the computers of paying customers, then the gaming division removes OtherOS and starts a witch-hunt on GeoHot and others who want to tinker with the products they bought legally.

    Sorry, but I don't have any desire to wait until the phone division finds a way to take an even bigger dump on the heads of their customer base.

    Depends on the laptop. My 18 month old $2700 Toshiba Qosmio is still sold today. Slightly better graphics module but otherwise only 200 bucks less than what I paid back then.

    Doesn't really surprise me.
    A while ago I had to use a laptop with a 1.5 GHz Celeron, 1GB RAM and Intel graphics.

    Exactly. Professional engines like mental ray, finalRender and V-Ray are moving towards GPU rendering, but right now there's nothing between high-end gaming cards and professional graphics cards with more RAM (and a shitload of money to shell out for it).

    Depends on which train we're talking about.

    One is a clone of the German Siemens Velaro train models while the other one is a Japanese design developed for their Shinkansen network.
    Not sure about French designs but IIRC the Chinese also have some Italian Pendolino trains somewhere.
