Working in education below college... I think I see the same thing occurring, really. Teachers/Professors are threatened by technology in the classroom. Their teaching has been generally unchanged for the last X amount of time... and the introduction of devices, especially those connected to the web (which I think increases concern), makes them nervous because students will be able to access information that the teachers/professors might not know of or about. It's a dangerous proposition to them, when confronted with the fact that students may enter a class knowing more then them.
It's been my experience that while they can be excited by technology, they are also fearful of it. Control of the environment plays into this as well. Just my.02
My personal take is that this is a dual part answer. Anonymous is as awesome as it is terrible. The idea of anonymous is what I think I would champion most.
There are some good things done by the faceless group... and there are stupid childish things done by the faceless group.. neither the same part of the whole, but still apart of the group.
From this we see community, and from internet community, we see weirdos. Just depends on how deep you're wanting to look.
There is a good documentary on HULU right now that covers this called "We're not broke."
This entire problem is a result of actions taken in the 70's. Our government was originally hijacked by banks first, and subsequently many corporations.
What this makes me wonder is that if this cash was allowed to "flow back" at once... would it have an measure of inflation with it?
I wonder what the school's policy is on tampering with the device. Working for a Texas School not to terribly far away, I've wondered quite a bit about this case.
The school is willing to deactivate the device by taking the battery out... and if applicable to one student it would be applicable to all, no? So why not have all students just remove the batteries. System deactivated. Problem solved.
I'm actually more offended that Apple decides who has a proper topic on their application platform, rather than the topic itself. Yes, it's still political, and we're probably chock full of political bullshit... but I wish there was a bit less censorship here.
Unfortunately... if they had this feature in the US on any roadway... instantly, I could see people crashing their cars... and suing the state because they "couldn't see the snow flakes.":-|

I agree with you completely here. However, at what point should we consider perhaps the role of government is not to be a "war machine" as aggressive and oppressive as that sounds. Maybe it's time we stopped being a war machine and just worried about defending ourselves.
Interesting how you say there may have been in an investigation... which could have been interrupted... but we would never know either if they even cared enough to do anything but file the footage. What they aren't required to do in our government, they won't do. Working in a low level government position, I have kinda seen this first hand.
Lastly, how dare you say I smoke too much pot. Sir, I haven't been smoking any and I'm quite sad about it!:) You should probably be behind legalizing the substance... that is if you want to pacify the people who might actually want a bloody revolution instead.
This only leads to the future cases where clicking on a link... potentially... may be a crime. Will there be a movie about it? Something dealing with the ideas and maybe call them "Pre-link". Sounds along the lines something Cruise would play a part in.

A revolution is every 4 years with our "election??" Our revolutionary process is elections?? You've got to be kidding me. There are two choices, and oddly, no matter who you choose, they seem to do the same dumb things that no one approves of, regardless of party. A revolution, my friend, would be removal of the cancer as whole, not injections of new incompetence.
You know, maybe our government wouldn't be so upset about leaks that were so damaging to their image if the those things shouldn't be happening in the first place. We send our military overseas and they document themselves killing civilians, but we are to pay no mind to their actions, but that the leak is "illegal." Come on. IF our government were required to be transparent, I would be willing to guarantee you that it would do less stupid and/or despicable things.
It's interesting to me that you speak of how we shouldn't step up to our government if we do not want to be thrown in jail for any reason or end up dead. You seem well educated... and I appreciate your statements. However, while I respectfully disagree... please note that there are a hell of alot more people than there is government.

The Apple Maps app honestly never let me down. I know I've read reports of it causing people to go odd places... but cannot say it happened to me.
