I find myself a little chagrined at the loss of the Insert key on modern keyboards. While perhaps not very important to the everyday computer user, I find myself missing a key feature (bad pun) without the key.
I would much rather lose the backtick and tilde keys as they serve less purpose than the SysRq key and MUCH less purpose than the Insert key.
BSD is an operating system, so it actually can't run under WinXP. It gets to run all by itself.
You could install it on another partition and actually dual boot BSD and Windows (dual booting is where you have two operating systems on the same machine, side by side). You can only run one operating system at a time, though.
You can download the latest FreeBSD ISO (bootable CD image) from here
I was just doing some gardening and it bit me on the back of the hand.
I don't want to use any operating system that reminds me of that traumatic experience.
I liked Dillon in Footloose, though.
Hosting IRC is asking for a BSA 'investigation'

IRC in the Dog House?

The amount of warez traded on IRC is immense and exceeds ftp warez traffic by a significant margin. The kiddies can do their Google search for warez, but the real underground is in IRC.
Hosting an IRC server in this day and age is like running an illegal music swapping site in the open. At some point the powers that be (the RIAA or the BSA, for example) will act, so why tempt them in the first place?
I find it hard to believe in this day and age that any company could stoop as low as to advertise that they are USB 2 compliant without actually complying with USB 2's most outstanding feature: speed. What would Knuth think if he were alive to see this kind blatant erosion of trust in hardware manufacturing?
No matter how technically savvy you are, if your email address is picked up by a spammer you will receive spam. Whether it hits your inbox or not, somewhere along the line someone has had to relay that message to your mail server and the bandwidth is already wasted.
Get a good filter, use whitelists, whatever. Just don't think that you will be able to eradicate spam without governmental help.
Previously thought to be only legend, the Geekus Majoris was discovered in the basements of MIT and UC Berkeley simultaneously in the mid 1960's. Their main habitat is underground and they frequently live with their parents until they find a mate and move out.
They have in recent years become more common outside of their primary habitat and are frequently seen skulking about shopping malls and video stores. They seem to have an affinity for Japanese anime which explains their attraction to small woodland animals.
They are the masters of camouflage. Some have developed the ability to blend in with the normal populace, though most are only able to appear homosapien. To determine if the creature you are viewing is a Geekus Majoris observe the fingertips. Bright orange fingertips are the telltale sign of the species.
It's just another way that the Japanese government has found to stifle the already depressed economy. Raise the prices of computers and you will put a lid on future computer sales growth in the foreseeable future.
ATI Technologies Inc. today introduced the RADEON(TM) 9800 XT and the RADEON(TM) 9600 XT, delivering killer DirectX(R) 9 performance in leading games like Half-Life(R) 2, which will be bundled with the graphics cards.
Looks like ATI and Valve know where their bread is buttered.
Too much "starpower" is overwhelming Hollywood these days and not enough craft is being exercised. Rather than relying on special effects and big name actors to bring in audiences, it would be nice to see better acting and better directing and better writing.
It really warms my heart to see liberals focus their concern for the poor in a specific and effective way. I feel the same when a conservative does so as well. No one is so callous as to completely not give a rat's ass about their neighbor, but it is more than difficult to find ways to help them than to feign contempt.
When effective people like Dr. Eva here go out and turn their ideas into reality it benefits everyone. If she were to go into politics the world would have been less one innovative scientist. Worse, the world would have been up one know-it-all politician.
There are several politicians out there today who could no doubt have been effective in changing society for the better had they pursued a specific profession other than politics.
All software has bugs. But if you are specifically making a software package that purports to be secure, it behooves you to make sure not to release until you are ready. Looks like there were "a number" of vulnerabilities. Perhaps they should have waited?
Previewing audiences are frequently handed little boxes with a dial on it which they use to dial in their approval of the show. If they like it a lot they can dial all the way up. If they hate it they can dial it all the way down. If they find something mildly amusing they can dial it to somewhere in the middle.
It's instantaneous and doesn't have the problem of a hundred people pounding on a keyboard in the middle of a show.
The main problem with this type of report is that it wakes all the nuke power proponents out of their slumber. Next we'll be hearing calls for more nuclear power plants as a "solution" to the coming power crisis.
Power sources not reliant on fossil fuels is definitely needed as a clean alternative to current mainstream power production, but let's make sure the power is really clean before jumping on the bandwagon.
It's no wonder kids are so violent these days. Violence feeds on itself: real world violence is mimicked and increased by the media, the violence reflected by the media is mimicked and increased in the real world, and so on and so on.
While we as individuals can only control the violence within ourselves, we must look to controlling the violence in media (be it games or the news or music) to put an end to the circle of violence.

Bring back the Insert key!
There simply isn't anything about using spreadsheets or word processors today that is enjoyable. They are the epitome of redundancy and boredom.
Taking these to the 3rd dimension and immersive could make the profession of accountant and secretary more attractive to young college graduates.

Sometimes I misspell URLs and I actually *like* having a service that attempts to find the site I'm looking for.
I'm not saying that people who are against it are anti-capitalist or anything, but they certainly are a bunch of knee-jerk reactionists.

Approach with caution and do not attempt to feed.

Maybe.

I visit your house at least once a year anyway. I promise not to read the letters.
Nice to see the programmers thought of polygamous cultures. Usually these programs are really culturaly Western European in nature.
MS: Who are your users?
TRON: Forget it mister high mighty Microsoft. You aren't making me talk.
MS: Suit yourself
*derez of TRON commences*
They fight for the users.

The people are beautiful and the culture is second to none in the world. It's a shame what the Communists have done to such a magnificent country.

Who are you fooling? I've got the list. I checked it twice.
