Well I seem to remember various things the master did to get more life. I also remember some of the Timelords from the Council on Gallifrey saying they could offer a full set of new regenerations (I forget if this was to entice the Master or the Doctor into going along with something).
The only problem with that is the whole time war business and a lack of Gallifrey existing. However since the TARDIS still works, that means Time Lords were not completely obliterated from time (Eye of Harmony powers all TARDIS machines).
Considering the Eye of Harmony was in the Panopticon last I noticed, then either it's now in the Doctors TARDIS, or Gallifrey is "not dead yet".
Given all that I suspect that "The Athletic Supporter of Rassilon" is floating about somewhere and is the key to some monsterous power.
"As an asside How many pirus (pirri?) are there on the road with over 100,000 miles? are you sure that the batteries will still be functional when the car reaches that mark (or maybe the 150,000 mile mark?)"
I'm at 98.6K, so in another 1.4K I'll let you know. So far there is no indication of any pending systems failure.
I bought a 2002 Prius (new back then) because I needed a car, I wanted something tech/geek, I wanted decent mileage, and I have had several diesels before. One thing to know is my (shit) ford escort had died so I was in the market for a new car since my job needs reliable transportation.
Sometimes people jsut want something different.
I would be down at the VW dealership if they introduced a 5-speed manual transmission, diesel, light truck (like my old wabbit) in a milisecond (second car not trade in).
I don't find other hybrid drivers and cruise with them waving (that is so damn creepy it make me want to run them off the road). I don't feel superior or smug (except to the peopel that ask "can you go up hills?") and I don't think I am saving the world.
I always have trouble not running off the road or falling out of my chair due to laughter every time I see people driving around or commercials for "hummers". I guess it is true no one bothers to check to see if they are using naughty slang when they name products.
So you are saying that my 98.6K mile Prius will suddenly have a total failure of the battery system in 1.4 K miles. Care to offer some proof.
Want to place some money on your prediction?
Also I don't know what you consider uber expensive, but if for some reason I do have to replace the battery my local dealer has quoted me around 2K (I suspect a few hundred over). While that is more then anyone wants to pay for any service, I went into my purchase knowing that potential cost (Assuming the battery does not fail during the covered period) and having replaced motors in other cars before, it's not that bad of a cost considering it's kinda the heart (or stomache) of the electrical side of the THS.
I've had a Prius since mid 2002 (bought it new) and so far no battery problems. There was a recall where they had me bring it in for half an hour so they could apply some anty corrosive stuff to the terminals because of some problems in high humidity areas.
It's a bit late (was away from the world for a week) but my Prius (2002 model) has 98900 miles on it and is still going strong. Original engine, bateries (even the 12V one) and the hybrid system/battery (HV one) has another 3 years of warranty coverage.
I was on the road while I was away and met another prius owner who monthly does a huge drive, and he showed me his readings and he has around 260 thousand miles on it (2003 model). He told me (can not verify) that all he has done is regular maintenance at the dealership.
One thing to think about with engine life expectancy is that the engine is less stressed and tends to run in an optimal range. It also does things to reduce starting wear (I seem to remember it involved pumping oil/moving the pistons before injecting fuel/sparking.
Right now at 1500 miles from the last oil change, the oil is the color of a light pancake syrup. Other cars I have had that were not hybrids tended to almost instantly have black oil by the time they hit the 90's (if they ever got that far), so that seems to be an indicator of either better running or less wear.
Having worked in video retail (Lackluster) back when LD was still strong and DVD was not even an idea. Pricing worked like this:
New release film on VHS $100 (people actually would pay this) months before the wide video release ($25-$35). The exact same film on the exact sam day that the only VHS you could buy was $100 would set you back about $40 to $60 (the latter less often) on LD.
We had people come in angry and yelling about it (price difference between new release LD and VHS) and we explained how things were being done by the movie studios not by us.
Hey, my LD player and 99% of the discs still work just fine (lost a couple due to rot), and IMO look just as good as the dvd versions I have seen (5th element for instance). I do have DVD player as well, so I'm not living in the past, but just because a new tech comes out, your old stuff does not quit working.
Well on the anecdotal front, if my wife starts drinking aspartame containing drinks, after about 2-3 days her vision will start to get worse (blurry) and her blood sugar will shoot up into the upper 200 range. These symptoms will go away after 1-2 days of no longer ingesting aspartame.
As a test we have tried it several times, while keeping all the other foods exactly the same, and even tried using regular versions of the same drinks (so sugar/corn syrup was the sweetener). The non aspartame diet produced normal results and fasting sugar levels in line with "normal" values and none of the vision problems.
We also discovered that for some reason corn syrup is fine for her but high fructose corn syrup causes elevated sugar levels for a non normal amount of time. Not sure why, but avoiding it seems to be a good thing.
Actually NT for Alpha was abandoned at version RC2 of Windows 2000. Runs rather well IMO, even the x86 to Alpha converter thingy did a good job. Hardware support was also pretty good (back then). If you actually pick up legit NT4 media and look at it it says right on it that it's got Alpha binaries as well as a few other platforms besides X86.
WOW. I wonder if it was the clone (I forgot what happened after the High Evolutionary figured out she was a clone) or an alternate universe or some zombie Gwen Stacy. I dont think I will read that wiki as I want what remains of my sanity intact.
"I think that too often game developers take the online portion of their games for granted because it doesn't generate revenue."
Funny, for the last five or six years the exact opposite has seemed to be the problem for me. I get a game and single player seems tacked on or poorly developed and most focus seems to be on multiplayer aspects.
I want both to be good, but I more often want to play a single player game and once or twice a year go to a lan party.
I like the region 2 version where they go to Pizza Hut.

There is a 200 dollar bounty on dead Prius batteries.
ICE= Internal Combustion Engine right? What diesel engines are you talking about?

PC soundcards used to support MIDI through the joystick ports (adlib era to SB live era).
"It is based off of France's actions in WWII, after all."
Yah, it's not like there were any french resisting occupation or helping the Allies. Nope.

I thought that was the branding for the 7-up with caffine.
I think the best exploitation of product placement in film (and it had Clooney) was Return of the Killer Tomatos.
Crap. I just discovered they made a zombie Mysterio complete with half his head blown off. Damn you Wiki^H^H^H^HMarvel.
Even 3rd rate villians should be better dealt with.
As I remember the other hunters were supposed to be his sons or something.

Have people not read Lathe of Heaven?
Shoving is the Answer!
I am probably out of the loop, having not followed stuff for a long time, but didnt Kraven and Mysterio stay dead?
