"Do you really think that a bunch of companies that are normally at each others throats would cooperate in this way? Even one company failing to cooperate would screw it up for everyone. If a company sees a big, juicy market the other companies are ignoring, believe me they'll go for it."
While it isnt cars, there are audio recordings of Monsanto and a few other (I think 5) bug agricorp executives meeting to fic prices and control things.
I don't read a smuch as I used to (damn you/.) but I value a good reveiw about as much as the book itself, especially when the reviewer knows the subject.
"bcm43xx team Reverse Engineered the spec. Broadcom, on the other hand designed the damn thing. So, they have paid software engineers, and those guys can probably talk to the hardware engineers, etc."
You would think that, but many companies (due to internal politics) lack good internal communication, support and teamwork between groups.
So how often have OS projects (large ones like operating systems) been brough down due to this? I am not aware of any but I do not follow every bit of OS news.
I brought in a barstool once because the rack system I was working on was set up so that you had to be standing and holding your arms above chest level to type.
Operations saw it and told me since it had only 4 legs (I admit it dod have wheels on the legs) it was in violation of OSHA guidelines.
The problem is that there are about 20-30 office chairs that I see every day that only have 4 legs in the cross design rather then the new supposed OSHA complient 5 point layout.
Sometimes people are just assholes playing power games at work.
The web site below your name does not load for me. Did you consider keeping your reviews and articles up and linking to the books on amazon as a referral? Then your work could have continued to generate some income.
"Trent Reznor putting music on USB keys is not in itself a blanket license to distribute the songs at will."
For some reason when I read this all I can think of is Monty Python's and the Holy Grail.
"Listen, strange women lyin' in ponds distributin' swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony. "
"To start, Bladerunner is, bar none, the best on-screen translation of Philip K. Dick's (one of the grandmasters of science fiction) visionary and perplexing ideas about identity, memory, and the soul."
Sorry you took that seriously. It was meant as a joke. I giess I need to start adding 14 lines of headers and using The Registers blinking bright read humor tag for stuff now.
"The unreasonable hatred of Carl Rove and Donald Rumsfeld: these people have never killed anyone, never escaped from a wreck and hid it, have never set anyone or anything on fire"
Some people would probably point to Iraq in response to this. YMMV
Bad example IMO since it was not just record sales that people who "disagreed with them" used to "send a message" to them they got death threats among other things.

Some DV bridges can be set to ignore Macrovision. ADVC100 can, not sure about others.
I dont know about the ADVC110 but my ADVC100 can be set into "ignore macrovision" mode by holding the signal select button for I think 30 seconds..
I think he is talking about that really bad Night Trap game.

The 3rd Ys game was like that.
And people who watched Friday.

Well, we have JarJar (the laziest Gungan on Naboo) vs. Dropo (the laziest man on mars). Tough call on that one.
I'd love to see doorways (my favorite book I think) but for film/tv, I think the Dilvish stories would work best.
