That wasnt a specian effect to show the guys head coming off. It was what happened if you first struck with the dagger as opposed to your sword. The dagger would consume a little sand and set you up to deliver a killing blow. Note that this used sand, and as I remember you had to fight normally and finish using the dagger if you wanted to capture sand into it. Triggering the slo mo was entirely optional.

Using the latter non slowing attack you could dispatch enemies quickly and fill the sand tanks, but there was a different pattern of attacks that worked on each enemy.

There have been times for me when using the slow attack on several enemies surrounding me made the differance, since they fall over slowly, I would tage each one with the dagger then finish each one. Keeps you from getting mobbed sometimes.

Worst time I ever had with a "Don't let so and so die" type mission was GTA III:VC.
The mission where you and Lance go to take over the Mansion. I have a sniper rifle, and Lance has some machine gun I think.
I am carefully sniping people from a distance and lance goes "Come on" and runs right in front of me the same moment I fire to take out the guy I was aiming at. Ended the mission real fast. Wish we could control characters (stay here, help out, go apeshit) so you could do missions like that in whatever style you like, rather then forcing you to run in guns blazing.

Whatever design decisions Nintendo made I think were good ones and led to a game everyone (IMO) can play.

If for some reason you are over .04 BAC (us IT workers are being judged with the standards set for cross country truck drivers) even when we are off the job (say going from a restaurant to hotel while visiting a customer) if an accident happens we must immediately get drug tested and we will be fired immediately thanks to federal standards.

The reason there are still millions of PSX units being made and sold is because PS2 backwards computability isn't all that great (some popular ones have issues on PS2) and that the components are made so cheaply (I bet they used caps with the bogus electrolyte) that they break regularly from normal use. Since they now only cost $50 you can look at the cost of buying new ones kind of like a maintenance fee every quarter.

Yes I am exaggerating, but sometimes it feels that bad.

I have Sega-CD, Turbo Duo, and Sega Saturn. All three are "old" consoles with moving parts and they work like a charm (once the volume knob on the Duo broke off (I suspect cold solder joint) and I had to open it up to fix that.

I have 3 PS2 units that have stopped reading most media (will be trying to use my O-scope to adjust lasers next week) and a PSX that only seems to work at a >45 degree angle. I had replaced the worn rail in the PSX that made it only work when upside down, now I fear it's having read issues as well.
