    space shuttle mission was supposed to go up
    and resupply it to keep it going
    but unfortunately the shuttle was behind scheduale

    I just read a book I picked up at barns n noble
    called " trust us were experts"
    It explains how PR firms sway public opinion
    on all sorts of things and flat out lie
    I'm sure M$ will use the same tactics
    It's an excelent read
    It will really open your eyes
    about how big biz works when it comes to PR
    FUD is nothin new

    Yes replying to spam e-mail is usualy useless
    they don't even bother to monitor replies
    99% of the time they just bounce

    During the gulf war the press brought thier off the shelf fax machines.
    they didn't last long in the desert.
    the military grade fax machines our troops were using had no problems
    people made a big deal cuz the military spent thousands of dollars on the mil spec
    fax machines that didn't have half the features the off the shelf models

    I saw what you are talkin about but
    I wasn't clear in my post
    the acual spam recieves very little return
    1,000,000 spams how many replies?
    If you just called the 800 number
    it would take a very small percentage of
    antispammers clog thier phone system with
    phone spam and every 800 number call cost them money
    It's simple math
    we could easily kill all spam with 800 numbers
    yes thats only one type of spam but it
    would be a pleasent victory

    I send 1,000,000 spams
    I get 1000 people buy my product or service
    or I just get an honest interest in my biz

    very small return rate but profitable

    now if 1 percent of all 1,000,000 recipients of the spam
    call this jerks 800 number you have just overloaded his system
    with crap and he makes no money

    because the legitimate biz is lost in the crap

    well It used to bother me so much I still remember it :-)

    I find that Comunicator 4.7x on my Mac is quite good for
    my needs the stutus bar thing was just ONE of things that
    bugged the shit out of me
