I sat on Lincoln's lap (the lincoln memorial in dc) in the middle of the night once (1998). The park police showed up shortly thereafter and confiscated our film and threatened to arrest us.
Isn't the simplest method to simply flash the red-light camera at whoever uses the device and send big fat nasty tickets to those caught doing it fraudulently?
The problem in a lot of areas is that IMF and World Bank monetary aid is tied into financial modernization and hooking into the world economy. For most this means cash crop agriculture and exploitative labor. Land ownership is centralized to be competitive and the workers tend to be employees vs sharecroppers or small land holders. When the commodity price drops as is the case with coffee now, farms layoff workers leading to large unemployment without the social welfare system enjoyed by developed nations.
The solution would be to diversify the economy, but this is difficult without foreign investment which is largely interested in the two above forms of industry.
I finally got to play with a G5 display model this evening. My biggest dissapointment with the G5, and this is coming from a casual observer, is the..latency? of window resizing. Is this just a function of RAM? I understand there alot of crunching to render the screen, but shouldn't the Radeon 9600 cruise through something like a window resize?
I've been wondering, if the design of the g5 case is specifically to move all that heat away from the goodies, why not rotate the whole thing into the Z plane so that convection would assist you ala the g4 cube? it wouldn't get rid of any fans, but they're automatic, so you could turn them on less. Or maybe the fans are strong enough that their orders of magnitude greater than vertical convection?
McDonalds had already seen at least 700 complaints about the coffee tempature previously
This case is one of my pet peeves. The punitive damages were applied because mcdonalds set their standard coffee temperature that high to decrease the amount of refills they would serve. This despite the complaints and knowing that it could potentially scald. Mcdonalds was punitively punished because they put their profits above the safety of their customers and workers. And rightly so dammit.
The reason is because, historically, it's difficult to get fresh meat in Hawaii. Therefore, canned meat becomes very popular. Or so says my Hawaiian wife.
This may have been true back in the day, say in WWII, but there's plenty of beef in Hawaii. In fact Parker Ranch on the big island is one of the largest ranches in the United States. 35,000 head of cattle on 175,000 acres.
The idea of suing poor people, in general is not to win large settlements, but to win a decision which will set a precedent to allow you to get the fatcats more easily. Poor folks can't afford good lawyers who can put up a fight.
In the future we may even get around to laser scanning real objects. Hire a cheap sculpter, contract with a laser scanning company and BAM!, cheap graphics.
Less people are familiar with Wolf3D, and even fewer people
[Grammar Nazi = ON]
Less is used for amounts of a continuous stuff, fewer is for discrete items or people. For instance, you would use less flower in the next batch of brownies to serve fewer people. If you can count them, use fewer. [/Grammar Nazi]
Since so much of RPGs are story, the endings provide the climax to all of your vested interest and time. My vote for the best endings go to Fallout, Ultima6, and the Final Fantasy series.
The key in adoption is not whether it is possible for robots to do the job, but rather whether it is cheaper / better to use robots. Consider the automotive industry. They use robots on the manufacturing line because they operate in a very small 'space of operation' (ie they do a few very specific welds) and are more precise and allow a higher throughput of autos on the assembly line. The fast-food jobs however, require very little precision or even training. The capabilities of robots will have to improve hugely AND the cose of these robots will have to be SO low as to make economic sense to replace a minimum wage worker. Sure it may happen, but I think my job at the In-n-Out is safe for the time being.

"Computer!?"
Scotty, I think you have to use the keyboard.
A keyboard? How quaint!

Cowboyneal is definately the oldest piece of hardware in my setup.
Who's the bigger geek? You, for making this joke; or me for getting the joke and replying to it with a post on /.?
There are simulators just for this purpose.

Mr. MickLinux, may I be excused? My brain is full.
What is rhythm action? DDR?

You mean like this?
unfortunately for me the spelling nazi and the grammar nazi modes are mutually exclusive in this version.

apt-get install whatever
and bam, you're done!
There's no step three? There's no set three!
OW!!
I think you got it backwards. Priorities for a sub are first space, then capability, then power consumption.

This is true of passenger planes, but an equally fuel-laden cargo plane is just as deadly a weapon, and there is only the small crew to overcome.
