I don't complain about games that require endless amounts of repetition or going through slow boring parts, I just don't play them and end up playing the faster paced games and easier access.
I recently bought Guild Wars Factions and I honestly can't be bothered to get to level five because it's too much of a drag to assemble your party and wander out into a quest area and have to spend a few hours to complete it. At the end of a work day, I've only got an hour or two to myself and I'll be damned if I waste it assembling a party and killing a bunch of mantids of whatever the hell again.
I'm enjoying quake 4 - I can save it from anywhere and if need be, drop into cheat mode and give myself full health, armor and ammo. Nothing sucks worse than having to start a level over because you don't have enough health or ammo for the last tough fight in a level.
I've got a $9.99/month subscription to Emusic.com which I have been enjoying immensely. Although they don't have everything, like Napster or Audio Galaxy's glory days, they do have a surprisingly deep catalog and I've found a lot of really good stuff in their archives.
I also like the fact that I can get clean, nicely labelled, high-quality MP3s and don't have to deal with all the cruft and duplication of gnutella clients. I used to use LimeWire back in the day but found that the program was too heavyweight for my computer and it seriously burdened my computer when it was running.
Good luck finding some music. God knows the music industry isn't making it easier these days.
I have to say that you and Simon Brooke are right - I viewed the comments in this thread before moderation took care of a lot of the noise generators. People like I'mARacist posted a lot of comments and basically took a shit on this entire thread, but luckily moderation has filtered out a lot of it. Good job moderators!
Thanks Salubris! I added you to my friend list as well. I just started to read the earlier post about the short lifespan of Engineering careers in America and I think I see where a lot of the frustration is coming from.
In the interests of peace between the US and India, I'd like to propose that henceforth, all marketing and sales in America be sent offshore to be handled by Indians. That way, the Indians will have jobs, the American engineers will have jobs and everyone will be happy except for sales and marketing (which is as it ought to be)
I am shocked to see how quickly this post has turned into racist troll bait. It's amazing how ugly people's attitudes can turn with a downturn in the economy. So many people here are quick to blame Indians for the fact that there are so many jobs being shifted overseas - aren't the American companies and the US government that allows this also to blame? I do agree that we should be more protective of our domestic economy, but the people that are truly profiting off of cheap Indian labor are the American mega-corps like IBM, Sun and Oracle.
This post has been eye-opening for me, as an unemployed Indian-American programmer, because I've always seen the entire Linux/Free Software/late 90's geek culture as a new kind of social phenomenon unencumbered by the baggage of the past, including racism and nationalistic xenophobia. The idea of all these foreign governments throwing their weight behind Linux means that there will be a larger userbase, more developers, and more vitality to the entire Free Software movement. But instead of greeting this with open arms, I see lots of people denigrating India and Indians. Yeah, more curry jokes and discussion about filthy, stupid Indians. Don't forget that your favorite OS was initially developed overseas by foreigners and is currently picking up lots of steam in Asia.
At least that is the guideline that DeBeers used to advertise. For someone making 50k a year, that would be about $8,000 after tax. Perfectly reasonable.
Don't get suckered. Hopefully your fiance is as reasonable as you.
My wife and I both decided not to get a diamond for our wedding or engagement rings. She's cool and smart and not so caught up in the DeBeers propaganda that she wanted to be a part of the diamond trade. I was just relieved not to have to waste so much money on a shiny rock.
When people ask us why we don't have a diamond, we tell them that we used the money for the downpayment on a house. That seems to shut them up.
I know how much Lego kits cost - but do you need to buy more than one of the Lego sets to do any of the "fun" projects in the book? Any recommendations?
It would be nice if KOffice and StarOffice and all the other free Office platforms had some standard document formats that were interoperable. Maybe if they got more popular, we would see something strange like the latest version of MicroSoft Office trumpeting "Compatible with StarOffice and KOffice" as their latest marketing bullet-point.
"I know if I were kept a long time from my soon-to-be-husband Yves for a great part of a year, I would do anything to see him again, and I think you would too"
You are so right. I would do anything to be able to hold Yves in my arms again.

Anything that hurts IE helps Mozilla. Even if they picked KHTML, it's better for Mozilla to be #2 in a 3 man race than #2 in a two man race.
BTW - I just switched to Mozilla from IE and I think it's freaking fantastic.

Wow. I think you just talked me out of buying these Lego kits. God knows I spend enough money on my computer.

A quick check on Amazon reveals that this book is the sixth in a series. Does this book stand on its own or does it require reading the earlier books?

No, I apologize. I saw an obvious joke and felt the need to make a pointless comment which was not very amusing.
If it makes you feel any better, your note was well written enough that I assumed that you were a native English speaker. Much better than my French!
Once again, I apologize.

Any mirrors out there of this? I can't get into this site.
