    Sorry, you'll have to make a better case for internet sales taxes than "The tax collectors in my home state consider the sale to have been made in my home state."

    Everyone considers it thus except for a few Paultards. If you buy something via Amazon, you are obligated by your state to declare that in some fashion (annually?) and pay sales tax on it.

    The issue is not the tax itself, but rather who has to pay the state. You, the purchaser will pay someone, be it your state (which you are supposed to be doing if your locale has a sales tax) or Amazon, who will pass this on to the state on your behalf.

    LILO is mostly dead, though. It was completely dead for many years until Joachim Wiedor stepped up to maintain it at a last minute just as it was going to get the boot from Debian. It still isn't kicking much.

    It's pining for the fjords.

    An interesting point. Perhaps students should be put at the bottom of salt mines. Of course, we can't prevent interaction with neutrinos and other pesky particles, but what else can we do?

    Still not that impressive; I'm working on a boomerang capable of traveling across four US states, which I plan to test in New Mexico.

    Make sure you pick your test site wisely or failure may result.

    Regarding your .sig: is that old, I thought Apple was on the outs these days?

    Switzerland to Belgium. So it wasn't just a hop across an adjacent border. And, as the summary says, they were in the air for almost 13 hours.

    Three hundred miles is what someone says further down the thread. Not far by standards of the northern half of the western hemisphere. So again, the headline shouldn't be pimping the international aspect, rather the time aspect (which IS impressive).

    More choice in the US in some matters without the hassle of expatriation. You like beaches? FL, CA, TX and others. Big mountains? The Rockies. Little ones? Appalachians. Plains? We've got them too. Big cosmopolitan city? There's NYC. Small towns? Flyover states.

    Devil's advocate answer: ignorance of other cultures. Lack of a second language. Laziness. Inability to smell vegemite without throwing up in your mouth a little.
