  2. Usenet still has value on Spaf's Farewell, Ten Years Later · · Score: 5, Insightful

Everyone knows Usenet is full of spam, trolls and people who've never mastered the subtleties of online etiquette. But don't write it off yet. It's still a fantastic place to interact, get technical support, debate the world, share common interests and grab MP3s. Just because it doesn't have a pretty GUI doesn't mean it lacks value. Usenet is the Wild West of the Internet. Use it, respect it and protect it!

  3. Weapons of Mass Rights Destruction on Hilary Rosen from RIAA will write Iraq's Copyrights? · · Score: 2, Insightful

Employing Hilary Rosen for this task is shameful. She is the human equivalent of a Weapon of Mass Destruction against Iraqi rights and fair use. Who said this wasn't an occupation?

  4. Running Windows Applications on Talk With Michael Robertson · · Score: 2

In early marketing efforts Lindows focused on the ability to seamlessly run Windows application. Post launch product claims in this area are much more conservatively. When, if ever, will the majority of Windows applications run on Lindows?

Despite reading well-intentioned articles on anti-spam measures every week it never seems to translate into anything real. I check my Yahoo, Hotmail and Earthlink accounts and see the old spam every day, it never seems to end. The use of mail filters, blocks and reporting of spam seem to have little effect against the torrent.

The mechanism for voting will have little impact on current apathy. A significant proportion of the country doesn't vote because they have little or no faith in politicians and their constant lies, double standards, corruption and inability to keep promises. Sure, clicking a button will make it easier to vote but you're stilling voting for the same distrustful candidates.

Let's be realistic now. This venture will no doubt fail, like many before it. Concentration of market power will ensure these little upstarts will be driven out of business. Each new merger and takeover means less choice to the consumer and more power to the oligopolists. The likes of AOL/Time Warner will only get stronger and will progressively censor information they don't approve of.
