    The only thing propping up each party is it's opposition to the other.

    If either party had total control of everything for an extended period (10 years) it would be a disaster.

    Democrats should FEAR the destruction of the Republican party. Without somebody to point fingers at people realize the emperor has no clothes.

    Same goes for the Republicans.

    The lesser of two evils is still evil.

    If you vote for the lesser of the two you've still enabled evil. It does not make you a better person for choosing "lesser" evil.

    I refuse to vote for evil period. It's not my civic duty to choose which set of corporations get government help from political cronies.

    Actually it was 3 branches guarding against the other two AND the States/Federal Government checking each other.

    That second part was gutted about 100 years ago.

    Realistically speaking there is practically NOTHING that can be done about it. Unless a dictator conquers the planet and rules with an iron fist (not what I would want!) the chances of reducing carbon emissions radically enough to make a difference is practically zero.

    It's like constitutionality and the supreme court. What the court says is constitutional IS constitutional, regardless of what anybody else thinks.

    The same applies here (except for the fact that a higher court can say otherwise).

    That's a very good point. Ask a MacOS user what version of Mach he/she is running and I doubt they'd be able to tell you. For that matter it's the same for the windows kernel too.

    Although I agree that Samsung might have been considering iphone like designes before the iphone came out, one has to consider if Samsung's designs were based on what they saw when Apple came to them for manufacturing as opposed to when it was released.

    Samsung would have known the design of the iphone FAR before the release date due to the fact that they had to manufacture it.

    Not that it detracts from viewing it, but lets be clear. Enterprise was NEVER intended to go into space without retrofitting it which after costs was considered prohibitive. It was cheaper to build Atlantis than to retrofit Enterprise which tells you something about how "space" worthy it really was.

    Enterprise was critical for flight testing in the atmosphere before Columbia launched.

    The tickets sold out in under 30 minutes. I seriously doubt that if it was live video streamed the seats would be empty. Same for Apple events.

    The moon would make a nice stable platform for launching nukes toward earth. Sure, we would have some time once they launched but that's small comfort.

    Those who have the high ground in warfare win. The Moon is the ultimate high ground in that regard when it comes to space based attacks.

    Plus...

    Other than killing/destroying whatever is at the pole, detonating a nuke there would have no real consequences here on earth like fallout.

    The fact of the matter is, it continues to exist and continues to be used DESPITE people saying that it's useless and will collapse and never be used again.

    Despite all the naysayers (and I DON'T own any bitcoins) the supply continues to expand. One has to acknowledge the reality of what is actually happening with the currency vs what one thinks or would like to happen. (well, you don't have to but that's another argument)

    The probabilities are related to location. How many people died in other earthquakes? Many, few...depending on how and where.

    When it comes to natural disasters I try not to put myself in places that have a high probability (for long lengths of time) that producing something that could kill me. what "high" is tends to be subjective. I'm just using what USGS says as a baseline.

    Fact of the matter is the whole freaking area is WAY overdue for a huge earthquake of the proportions that crashed and burned the city at the start of the 20th century. Until that occurs I have to wonder about putting my family in danger.

    Sure, there is danger everywhere but ask any Geologist about the chances of a major earthquake in San Francisco and it's definitely not trivial.

    Sure, many people would still get the ripped version, but I'd bet a large amount of people if they COULD GET a legitimate copy even with some ads in the video stream would.

    Of course, how you have ads that cover everybody worldwide is another story. I suppose if it were for something like Coke that would be easy since it's sold everywhere.
