Does HTML5 use OpenGL? or does it have it's own graphics language that talks to the underlying stuff in the OS like OpenGL and DirectX?
IF OpenGL is being used directly within the browser this could be a BIG thing. Most developers use Direct3D and I would imagine Microsoft might be pushing silverlight because they don't want to undermine something they've worked very hard to standardize and control.
I've never understood why the left's answer to crony capitalism and rent seeking as a result of corporate influence is.....to concentrate power so we have MORE rent seeking and crony capitalism.
Yes, Neoconservatives are in bed with corporatism. They are nothing more than statist leftists that left the progressive movement in 60's because they didn't like the social/moral aspect of the evolving left side of the political spectrum. Make no mistake though, they believe in concentrating power for how they perceive things should be "fixed" just as bad as the far left does.
Except for one thing. Corporatism, Crony Capitalism and Rent Seeking are not a problem more on the right than the left. The right (neocon conservative) embrace it, the left denies that when they are in charge that it's a problem, or simply explain that it can be "fixed" when they get into power (which is a bunch of crap, they can't fix it).
Good Lord. Has anybody taken a wifi base station walked up to these people, claimed it was on just to watch them scream in agony only to show them they had not ACTUALLY turned it on?
I would LOVE to see that.
Of course...You can't rationally argue a person out of a position they did not rationally get themselves into (quote by somebody...can't remember who) so I'd guess they would deny that it was actually off when they screamed in pain.
So...I thought it was strange that everybody said I was an ass hole after I took that 5 dollar bet to put the magnetic tape de-Gauzer to my temple and press the button!
No worries, greenpeace (wait...no green on the moon!) will have some president declare the moon a national park or have the UN declare it a world heritage site (wait..the moon is not of "the world")...bah! do it anyway!
Didn't anybody watch where all that nuclear waste is stored on the Dark side of the moon which causes a chain reaction blowing the moon out of orbit??!!!.....
Is really a descendant? Or a distant relative? My research says that the ARM was designed with many of the same concepts and by generally the same group of people but it's not a direct lineage.
In a company with a top down command structure those that violate policy without regard will be fired. That's not saying that new technology will be stifled, but to say that the policy will change to accommodate the new technology. The old gaurd will take up positions within the new regime as fast as you can sneeze. Already iphones and ipads in my organization are being hamstrung by old security wonks that were vocal against anything but blackberries. Now they propose completely managed Ipads and Iphones and they very well may get it.
Microsoft makes the majority of their money from OEM and business. The number of people buying boxed copies of windows is pretty small in proportion. If they would just give it away (or for a small fee) to consumers they would get a lot of good Karma AND cut down on people trying to steal it.
Of those I recognize Dream Theater and Vai (the sticker on Satriani's first LP was an endorsement from Vai which was why I picked it up). Dream Theater is awesome....every 2nd or 3rd album but technically it's crazy. I still can't figure out how they manage to stay in time for a 14 min song with three seperate sections. Heard of Deep Purple but never listened to them. Zappa is another era.
Kings X - Good every 4th album and then only half the CD. (oh..you meant Planet X...never heard of em)
I'm already getting there. Except I'm far sighted so the TV actually looks fine. It's READING which is getting harder. Time to jack up the fonts. Thank got for ereaders!
Years of listening to Rush, Van Halen, ACDC, Iron Maiden, Def Leopard, Metallica,Yngvie Malmsteen and Joe Satriani (among others) at ear splitting volumes has probably reduced the audio reception fidelity of my ear drum to that of a crappy mid 80's Krako speaker set bought from radio shack.
So while I lament with you about the loss of speaker quality I seriously doubt I'd be able to hear the difference.
I agree. Send up some booster rockets and send it into deep space. I'm sure it could serve some scientific purpose to see the condition of the thing in a hundred years when we have the spaceship to go retrieve it for the museum (along with retrieving both Voyagers and Pioneer spacecraft)

You've got it almost right.

yea, I agree. The Author is welcome to stay on his 10base2 network if he wants, but I WANT my 10Gb/s.
Given what Tesla accomplished, he might WANT to have changed his name to "Tezela". It sounds WAY cooler.
Wow...he had "Fucken" as a second middle name? Incredible. How mean of his parents :)
Ok. That was funny :) Yes I misspelled it. So sorry to the fans.
So...I thought it was strange that everybody said I was an ass hole after I took that 5 dollar bet to put the magnetic tape de-Gauzer to my temple and press the button!
But it IS pristine! and it WILL ruin it.

Hard to know if the TMZ photo is legit or not. It's no like they are beneath photoshopping something to get a headline.
Personally I think that's lame. You are the founder of Slashdot. You should be able to keep that as a legacy cool power.
I knew it!
Good luck Steve..er...Rob...err..whoever you are actually!

"(It’s fun to toy with the idea of us all using computers directly descended from the Commodore 64.)"
I'm trying to imagine what a 64 bit descendant of the 6502 would look like...and it's not pretty :)
Yes, it's slow but it gets better every year.
As soon as you used the term "Tea Bagger" your credibility went down the toilet.
In a dictatorial regime heretics are burned.

They can EASILY afford it.
It would be a good business decision.

I'm 41.
