Yeah, and Bush is president, with the power to pardon anyone of any crime. I'll bet my left kidney that all the telecoms will get one the day before Bush leaves office.
Hear, hear! I too had decided to vote for Obama right up until I heard about his disgusting flip-flop on this issue. Now I refuse to throw away my vote on him, and will instead have to vote third party.
Hmm. Could the judge rearrange his docket so that he takes action on this case on Monday, before this law is passed by congress? Would it matter? If he decides the case while he still has the power to do so, would the telecoms still get immunity?
>Obama will be heavily attacked this fall for any appearance of being 'soft' on terrorism.
Honestly, who cares? The Democrats won the house in the last election by running on a 'Get out of Iraq' ticket, which could have certainly painted them as soft on terrorism, but they won by a landslide. Most Americans recognize what a sham the whole thing has been at this point, and a politician who panders to the opposition like this doesn't deserve our votes. I was seriously thinking about voting for Obama this fall, but this has made me reconsider throwing my vote away on him.
>A theist can give a rational accounting for unchanging laws of physics. An atheist cannot.
Yeah, saying that some un-apparent entity without any explanation itself created the laws of physics is much more rational than saying that we just don't know why they are that way. Your accounting adds no real information at all, it just makes you feel a little better because you can wrap your brain around it.
>Every cause needs and effect. But there is no reason there can't be an uncaused Beginner.
And there is no reason to believe that the universe itself is an effect. The laws that apply within the universe are not known to apply to things 'outside' it. Personalizing this cause only creates more questions.
>The double slit experiment proved that the observer influences the quantum world itself and that the particles might not even be particles prior to observation of them. If that is the case this again changes everything we thought we knew.
Not if you're a believer in the Many Worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics. There is no communication between widely separated particles, there are just two versions of you measuring those particles.
There was a lot(!) of time between when the universe began and mammals, or any living creature at all, began to exist within it. How could this be if existence requires consciousness? If all you're saying is the universe's consciousness gives rise to itself, you're not really saying anything.
If they want to legally distribute it, they cannot do so unless they offer the source for prop.dll. If you can't offer the source, you can't redistribute. It's that simple.
I do seem to remember hearing that it was about 70,000 years ago when man made the leap to making tools and cave art. What their survival possibly related to developing abstract thought?
>I don't understand what all the excitement is for. The game is not "unreleased", it has just not been released on a specific platform.
The differences between the 2600 and the Colecovision were considerable. Imagine trying to port GTA3 to the original Nintendo system and you'll have some idea how bad this game probably is.
"Global surface temperatures have increased about 0.74C (plus or minus 0.18C) since the late-19th century, and the linear trend for the past 50 years of 0.13C (plus or minus 0.03C) per decade is nearly twice that for the past 100 years. The warming has not been globally uniform. Some areas (including parts of the southeastern U.S. and parts of the North Atlantic) have, in fact, cooled slightly over the last century. The recent warmth has been greatest over North America and Eurasia between 40 and 70N. Lastly, seven of the eight warmest years on record have occurred since 2001 and the 10 warmest years have all occurred since 1995."
The left lane is for passing only. If you're in it and someone is tailgating you, it's because you should either be going faster or should get the hell out of the lane.
Yes, but the cylons had also been in human space for a long time. If Tigh is indeed a cylon and has been in the military for most of his life, the cylons have been in human territory for at least that long.
>I thought making fun of religions was not allowed because it was insensitive and intolerant ?
Anything is "allowed", as far as free speech goes. While making fun of a religion might be insensitive and intolerant, making fun of Scientology is neither. Scientology is a religion like tofu is a meat.
True, the value comes from somewhere, and that "somewhere" is the inflation "tax". Then why does the government bother to tax us at all when it can just print money as it is required? If they are going to deflate the value of our money, why not make us happy by letting us keep all of our soon to be worthless money?
Because copyright itself is quickly becoming an outdated concept, especially since the law (in the US at least) seems to have forgotten about the 'for a limited time' phrase in the constitution that allows copyright to exist at all. If they're going to ignore the law, why shouldn't we?
>I think its fine, don't punish companies for doing what the NSA asks them to do, corporations are not responsible for upholding the rights of individuals.
But they are responsible for following the law, as Quest did by refusing their request. Fact is, the telecos broke the law by following those orders and should be held responsible just like anyone else.

If these guys are guilty of anything, who not prove it in a fair hearing?

That would be the LGPL. You cannot link to a GPL library without having to release the source code if you intend on distributing the program.

Apparently.

Notice that ncdc in the URL? I wonder what that stands for?
>since the last 10yrs the average temp of the Earth has actually cooled.
No, it hasn't. 1998 was an especially hot year, but the trend over the last 10 years has been increasing, just like the 10 years before that.
>When you see the yellow light, you are supposed to stop.
Yes, but if these lights are timed too short, it could very well be impossible for you to stop before they turn red, especially on a wet road.
Would these sneaky moves be grounds to contest the validity of all of the tickets given by traffic cameras in these cities?

Virtual particles cause a lot of measurable effects, like nuclear decay and the Casimir effect. Wikipedia has more details.
